Pros & Cons of waiting for lower air fares

I think as soon as you see a fare that you can live with you should jump on it.

I got my flight for Oct last month & now the samw flight is $90 r/t per person. There are 5 of us so we saved $450 by booking early. Good luck! :)

It has been almost a month since I bought my plane ticket and started this thread. Out of curiosity, I've been going to the Delta web site several times a week to check the current prices and the number of available seats on my return flight (on a 50-seat plane on New Year's Day). The price never went down for the dates I'm flying, but I kept watching the available seats decrease. Tonight the web site shows only two seats left on my return flight - and the price has gone up to $318 ($90 more than I paid). There are still seats available on a later flight out of MCO, with a change in Atlanta, at only about $15 more than I paid. Although I really hate to have to change planes, I might volunteer to give up my seat if they're overbooked - in exchange for a free roundtrip ticket to be used at a future date, of course. Whatever happens, I like the security of knowing I got the flight times that are most convenient - at a price that wasn't too hateful.
