great time to go though, like everyone said, extremely low crowds! we definately plan to go in january again ::yes::

Here's a link (assuming it works) to historical data on Accuweather.com:

http://www.accuweather.com/adcbin/p...01&month=jan&metric=&record=0&year=2003&cdd=0

Forget the averages and look at the ACTUAL data for Jan '03. Basically, there WILL be days in January where the HIGH temp is in the 50s. There will also be days in the 60s and 70s.

If you can deal with the fluctuations and understand that a 7 day trip may only get you 2-3 days where temps hit the 70s, go for it.

Pig Pen, I live in NH and I say GO!!! We went in Jan, a little chilly some days, but who cares, no snow and ice!!! It's worth it just to see some flowers!!! I had a young grandaughter with me, but she did fine. Swam a couple of days, admired those who got out of the pool steaming on the cold days!!! Only trouble we had was getting out of the airport......snow and fog, but just another good reason to leave!! Have a great trip!!

We went early Jan. 2003. It was COLD - but then we are those FL people who aren't used to really cold weather. I've been to Disney at all times of the year and it seemed crowded to me, but it was right after new years and that may have had something to do with it. If I went again in Jan. I'd go later in the month.

We were at WDW last Jan. (went to see the shuttle launch, then stayed another week) and we were very glad to have our winter coats with us. Of course, we flew down from Maine, so we needed our coats to get to the airport anyhow! I have been several times in Jan. The weather can be warm or cold, so just be prepared. BTW, Maine is WAAAAY colder in Jan. than FL's coldest days, so don't worry, just be prepared. We didn't swim, too cold. The lines at the parks were so short we didn't care about what we were missing! I'm preparing for a little shock- DD and I leave for WDW on 10/9. We've been going in De. and Jan. for the past few years, so I'm sure we'll have "culture shock" this trip due to line length and waiting times, but I don't care. I'm going to Disney World THIS WEEK!!!!

lol ! there is a big difference in what you are used to...I remember being in Hilton Head once, we were in light sweaters and happy as could be while the locals were in winter coats, gloves the whole bit and freezing! course you do want nice weather when you are on vacation but persoanlly I can not take the summer FL heat( that is not "nice" weather to me!), hr. long lines ( although fast pass has helped that I imagine) and crowds that =Disney in summer. give me a sweatshirt and let me go in January!although maybe we have been fortunate since we have only had a handful of sweatshirt days in either Dec or Jan. ( days, the nights you do sometimes need a sweater or jacket, especially on any of the boats) Just be prepared for anything from 80-35 and you will be fine... layer it on or off as you need to, just like anyplace else!
