Hey All, we are planning an Oct trip and we usually rent from Alamo. They now have Tesla's available to rent and I was wondering what pro's and con's would be for this. I know they have electric vehicle spots at the parks, but what about at the resorts? My main concern would be getting caught not being able to charge it and hence, not being able to use it!

I'm excited to hear that Alamo has Tesla's available! I would image that a fully charged car wouldn't need to be plugged in during a week-long trip to Disney. I'm just curious how much Alamo charges for returning an "empty" electric vehicle.

are they charging more for them?
We had a hydrid Fusion from Alamo. It was really strange to drive a silent car.

I don't know how it's been recently, but pre-pandemic, I often noticed the charging station spots at MK & Epcot full, sometimes taken up by non-electric cars just parked there. Disney didn't seem to be doing any enforcement.

Just glanced at the Alamo website for Orlando rentals and these are in the "Luxury elite electric" category so obviously will pay a premium for that type of vehicle. Unless you plan to buy one and want to experience a test drive, not sure of the value of paying extra for a rental.

Yeah I would think for on property you could pop over to the super charger just south of property, south of AKL and top up (80% anyway) once and do just fine. Do you have to return it at a certain charge level?

No clue.....there is no information on it. Maybe I will call them and get the particulars.

I know Riviera has charging parking spots for electronic vehicles, and I think they had some at Copper Creek based off a vlog I watched.

I would assume all rental companies offering electric vehicles will have wording in their rental agreements about returning electric vehicles charged to some level. With the typical gasoline engine, rental companies can fill-up the tank in less then 5 minutes and immediately turn the vehicle around for another rental (but they still charge excessively to refill). Depending on the voltage of the charging system used by the rental company, the vehicle might take HOURS to fully recharge, meaning it can't be immediately turned around for the next renter, so it is effectively out of service during that time.
