Pros and Cons of Aulani Sub contracts for Sleep Around Points

I have used my Aulani sub for so much sap. It works perfect for me. That may change if availability changes in the future but now I just book things with my points 7 months or less.

I would personally need a WDW resort as my backup since that's what I typically plan for.

I do wish I had more WDW points. But I still have no issue spending all I have so far at all resorts . Sometimes I forget I am only 1.5 years into this.

Same! It's been amazing as SAP+ for me. Usually I try to plan in advance based on when my expected Hawaii trips will be but if I'm not planning to go to Hawaii in the next use year I'll just use the banked points and book a night combining those with my AKV points somewhere at 7 months.

Out of total curiosity, I just went and booked one night at AUL in April 2026. Then, after booking, I went in to modify and the only resort I could select for modifications was AUL. So, maybe it is we've basically got 3 booking clusters - AUL, VDH/VGC, and everything else.

This has been debated before in other threads. The fact that VB and HHI are within driving distance makes it a viable alternative for WDW trips.

Being able to modify within the 3 clusters is not something I expect-- because they are significantly different trips and require more travel planning (e.g. flights).

There are those on these boards that say they want the option to do so, but we're all DVC power users here. My work in customer service reminds me that there are way more people in the world that are dumber than you think. It would only be a matter of time before someone ruins their family vacation because they modified their reservation to a different cluster and unable to change it back.

Sometimes I have to answer phones dealing with the general public. You are not wrong. It would happen in the first hour.

SAP all the way! I have 3 AUL-sub contracts and have never been there. I do live in CA and go to HI often but never the west coast of Oahu.

It helps that I love SSR and OKW. I feel fortunate and thankful to be in a position to stay anywhere on property.

Same… frankly I derive the most satisfaction from using them at VGC 1BRs at 7mo! Also the best to use at high-dues properties (eg. VB, OKW, AKV)!
