Proposed new fee for flying into the US

The US's draft 2012 budget includes a new $5.50 fee for Canadians flying into the US. This would bring in about $90 million from Canadians to fund the US budget.

Well I would think twice before flying ever again. Well at least out of canada, I would drive in and then fly.

Hopefully they don't charge us for crossing by car. But even if they do, still much cheaper than flying out of Toronto, though might have to cut down on the shopping trips.

Even with that fee, its still much less than flying form here, for us anyway.

I don't have a problem with this as long as we do the same. Charge Americans crossing into Canada...

guess that 90 million will help pay down that 12 trillion dollar debt faster...or piss people off out of principle for being nickel and dimed to death time will tell i guess.

Lots of other countries charge fees for folks ... Dominican Republic, Jamaica...have to pay the "departure fee" so we can come home.

I always wonder who gets it...the airport, the government, various officials??
