Are there any common words you just can not say?

My great grandmother could never say scissors. She always said 'sheers' to avoid saying it.

My grandmother can not say enamel.

I can't say 'rural'.

so what can't you say?

I hate saying "scissors" cause I have an accent saying it. So I call em skissors... lol. I hate the word "rural"... My accent makes it sound like I'm saying "ruler"... Plus, everyone thinks I'm already weird... being born in Ohio and having a NY accent.

I can't say that either. My other one is saddelry. I pronounce things weird anyway because my dad is from NY and my mom grew up all over the southern US. It's so funny when people try to figure out where I'm from. I have a typically northern accent, but occassionally a word like ya'll will slip out.

Picture.

I pronounce it like more like 'pic-a-chure'.
My mom always points it out and laughs when I say it.

Today I had to voice a talkmail. I was sitting there trying to make sure I said recyclable(sp?) right.
I never say the word poltergiest right.

I can't say "borrow." Or "borrowers." I'm not good at saying my r's.

I, surprisingly, can prounounce words fairly well. What I would consider ill-pronounciation is when I start talking with a Boston accent...despite my being at nearly the opposite end of the state lol. :rotfl:

There are a few words such as Manhatten that I cannot, for the life of me, say without a Boston accent. Luckily, there aren't many of those words and I don't have to say Manhatten on a daily basis lol. And no, I can say "park", "car" and "Harvard yard" just fine lol.

I have a problem speaking when I get mad, I start speaking in a Northern accent, I don't even know where it came from. :teeth:

I can't say the word aluminum very well. With my trying to lose my normal accent, and the people around here who like to pronounce everything wrong, I can't ever say it right.

I absolutely love Boston accents.
Too adorable.
I had the most fun say New Joisey a few weeks ago. It's just too fun.

I've got a Jersey accent. Hurrah for Jersey accents!

The only word I have a problem saying is abominable.

I once couldn't say Apocalypse. (sp?)

I kept saying aCOPalypse.

This was last year.

i cant think of any words right now. but my sister calls pretzels, prenzels. its kinda funny. and when my other sister says Pirates of the Caribbean really fast, she calls it Pirates of the Parabbean.

I can not absolutely say "synonym" and "cinnamon"... I blame my parents poor speaking abilities.

My best friend says "cousint" lol and I have heard WAY TOO many people in MA call "Palmer" "Parmer" :rotfl:

I also hear A LOT of people leaving the "h" off of words such as "humor", "humid", and "human". The list goes on lol. In fact, several people from my own family knock the "h" off. lol.

I cannot say burger. It comes out booger.
