I have seen these collars? which, when put around the neck, tend to keep the body cooler. We are heading to WDW in a few weeks and my DH tends to warm up quickly. I would to find a product of this type he can use while we are in the parks - we always carry plenty of water, have the hand fan but would like to find this type of product. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Caroline

I found them last year at Walmart and they worked really well except one of them tore and the gel stuff got all over the place. You could also use a washcloth. Just soak it in ice water and put it on the back of your neck. Those neck wraps really cool down your temperature fast! I would usually get them out around noon and our whole family would go "Aaaah" when they put them on.

We bought them from Walmart as well, but every one of them leaked, either the gel itself or a sticky ooze that dried on the backs of our necks. We decided after the first day that we'd rather deal with the heat! Maybe we hit a bad batch of them, but we're in no hurry to try them again.

We've ordered a batch of these for our trip this summer from ebay. We got them for $1 each, so we've decided to give them a try. :confused3

Hope that helps.

I usually use a neck wrap too, but with baby diapers. I purchased a new pack of cloth diaphers from W/M take a few in my backpack, just wetting them as needed throughout the park keeps you cooled down . Lighter to carry and no worry of leakage in the backpack.

I ordered mine from QVC and got 6 of them for aroud $20. They are wonderful, we used then last summer on the Disney Panama Canal cruise and while others were dying from the heat in a cave in Curacao we felt cool and din't even break a sweat. They do have a gel type feel to them, but it didn't bother us and it takes several days for them to dry completely. we found they work best if you wet them several times a day.

I used them last week (90's) and what a difference a neckwrap made. The Walmart ones did leak gel (at least it was cool gel) the better quality ones (Sports Authority) didn't leak and I've had them for years.
Saw somewhere a hat with a brim made out of the gel. Looks really dorky but in the heat who cares.

Miracool.com has bandanas, hats, and vests that you soak in water for about 30 minutes and they stay cool for several days. They have the baseball style hats with bandanas to match. I bought several for our trip last Sept, but we never wore them. My D-I-L thought they looked dorky (and she was right). I got them out two days ago, thinking we might use them for our trip next week. I soaked one of the hats and after seeing this thread, just went and checked and the hat is still very cool. The hats have little channels of cooling crystals that go up and across the top, as well as around the base of the hat. It gets a little too cold though and will give you a headache sometimes.

Thanks to the great advice offered here, I went to QVC and ordered a set of 6 . Truly appreciate all your comments - will let you know how they worked after our trip in a few weeks. Caroline

Can somebody point me to the correct name of the product on qvc.com? I haven't been able to locate it.

Thanks...I appreciate the help!!! :cheer2:

Something that I found out about the Wal-Mart neck coolers is that you have to follow the direction for how long to soak them or else they do leak and get slimy. After paying closer attention to the timing= no more leaks.

I found that a plain old washcloth from your resort in a sandwich ziplock bag is the best thing to bring, then you can wash off your face, neck, back of legs or wherever it feels best and is great for the kids.

I had trouble finding these through QVC, too, but I FINALLY found them. Item No. F8091, Set of 6 "Cool Downz" Water Activated Cooling Wraps.

(sorry-- couldnt let that one go..........) :rotfl:

I also bought mine from QVC.com the other week. I just recieved them in the mail. We will be going to WDW in September and will be using them. I'm going to try them out at work also. I'm a mail carrier and let me tell you, it gets hot in your car fast in the summertime. Keep us updated on how well they do.

Can anyone that has used these bandana things tell me if they are really heavy to have around your neck? If we decide we dont need them that day are they heavy to tote around in your backpack?

We're going next week, so I will let you know how they worked out upon return. Thanks to everyone who provided all this great information.I hope it can help others as well. Caroline
