Hello my family and I are going to Disney this May. I have not been there in a very long time. My question is does anybody have a description of the process for entering Magic Kingdom. Things like will a side by side stroller fit through all of the access spots? What do I need to get in? Pretty much everything anybody can think of would be very helpful.

I will have my 3 small children and two strollers so the more I know before hand the better.

Thank you in advance for the information.

Are you staying on-site?
Are you driving to MK?
Do you already have park tickets?
Will you need to buy tickets when you arrive?
How many adults in your party?
What are the ages of each of the 3 children?

um...
you go through bag check, if necessary... then slide your card through the scanner and do a finger scan (i understand its one finger now instead of 2?).. go through the turnstile... your strollers can come through the gate.... and YOU'RE IN!

Thanks for the response.

We are staying on site at POFQ and taking the Disney buses.
We already have our tickets.
There will 11 people in our party 7 Adults (ages 33-68) and 4 Children (Ages4,3,2,1)

Then JacknSally's response says it all...

1) Any children under 3yo don't need a ticket.

2) Any children over 3yo but less than 10yo will need a ticket put into the ticket reader- but DON'T need to use the finger-scan.

3) Any guest 10yo and older will need a ticket put into the ticket reader- AND need to use the finger-scan.

4) Strollers and wheelchairs go through a swinging gate, opened by a CM.

5) All guests walking will click through a one-way push-gate.

When you get on the bus the strollers must be folded. This is Federal Law for any bus which has a capacity of more than 15 people. And the drivers will strictly enforce this.

And Robo should have said that children under age three are free. He probably meant to say two or under, but didn't.

Since you have a fairly large group, please make sure that each person only uses their own ticket. If you have a package, and the tickets are on the room keys, that is not a problem as each person's name is on them. But if your tickets are not coded on your room keys, please mark the tickets so each person knows which is theirs. It definitely speeds things up going though the turnstiles.

The bags will need to be searched. Maybe you could split the group in half. Let some go through the bag check while the others go directly to the ticket turnstile? Just a thought:) Also, as for the stroller, we found that a great place to store them on the buses was under the row of seats that sit sideways, typically reserved for wheelchairs (so this is of course assuming these seats are not needed for anyone else). The strollers fit so nicely under these seats! Also, we wait until the end to get off the bus with the strollers so that it is easier for us.

The bigger the stroller the harder they are to transport on the bus. You can't just put the stroller on a seat. You'll probably have to hold it in front of you or on your lap. The least amount of stuff you lug with you, the easier it will be. Camera cases will be checked. Fanny packs will be checked. Diaper bags will be checked. Any container of any sort that you carry into the theme park will be checked by security before you can get into the ticket line. No glass other than baby food jars. No alcohol. No knives, guns, weapons of any sort.

When you get on the bus, your stroller will need to be emptied and folded. You will have to carry your small children. And all your stuff.

I took a side by side umbrella stroller and never had a problem getting anywhere. While it is a pain to fold for the bus, I was happy to have it for the long walk between park exit and bus stop or bus stop and room.

I also took a clear plastic back pack with snacks and a mesh bag for diapers. They seemed to go through security easier than bags with tons of pockets.

My first tip is to be there at rope drop!

We used the entrances to the left, they seemed to be less crowded.

Only people with bags have to go through security. Everyone else can go on past.

We took a party of 13-we all divided up when we got to the ticket entrance, then we met on the other side.

You can take in snacks--We took in water, goldfish, crackers, and one day we even took in sandwiches.

Have FUN!!!!

Twice I have seen megastrollers that wouldn't fit through the entry ports. They had to take the kids out and fold them. One parent squished the stroller together enough to fit WITHOUT first removing the kids. Yikes. But I think these were triple strollers.

If you plan to immediately get fastpasses for something like Space Mountain, make sure everyone knows who the fastpass runner will be, and that they hand their ticket to that person after going through the turnstiles.

My husband was our runner. Each day he would get to Soarin'/Expedition Everest/Tower of Terror etc. and get us all fastpasses. I was in charge of getting my daughter and niece to the same attraction, since they were slower we always got to the attraction about the same time he finished getting all the passes. :cool2:

Several times I passed the machines and heard someone say something about needing everyone's cards to get the passes. They didn't realize that, and apparently each person had only their own ticket and therefore could only get one fastpass. :confused3 :confused3

To amuse ourselves while waiting for rope drop, we practiced handing them to him AS FAST AS WE CAN!!

If you Travel date is before the 3rd bday they are free, was told to bring birth certificate to prove if ask...

You don't need a birth certificate, honestly. If Disney asks, they will believe what you say unless it's quite obvious that the child is older than three (like, they're wearing a shirt that says "I turned ten today" or they have facial hair). Disney trusts guests to tell the truth. So ... one less thing to carry.

:earsboy:

Wow

Thanks for all of the great responses. I think I now have a grasp of the entry process. We plan on being at the rope drop for most of the days at the parks.

I am so glad that I found this web site last year without it I don't think I could have ever come up with the information. I also enjoy the podcasts

Regards
