Maybe it's just me. When I clicked on the Resort Forum and the page came up, it's about 6 pages wide. I can click on it and move it from side to side but only get portions of the page visible.
I was going to post in the technical question forum, but read other posts and no one seemed to be having the problem. Also checked the subjects on Resort forum and didn't see any reference to it.
Very difficult to read.
Is there something I can do?
It didn't look like this on the other forums.
When I clicked on post new thread, the page looks just fine -- normal or whatever. :-}
Thanks for any insight.
Sandy

YIKES....
I am having a different problem with the RB this morning....
I get onto the board, and then no matter which thread I click to open, I get a box saying that there was an error with a plug-in on that page and an illegal operation shuts me down!
Any ideas as to what's up with that???

I didn't mention it with my original post because there were so many things going on -- in addition to the WIDE page, that I just thought it sounded too unbelievable!
But I was getting stuff at the bottom about java this and plug in that and stuff I've never seen before.
When I tried Resort Forum again later after posting, the "page" was slightly smaller. The stuff at the left side was closer together.
Oh, well, I never did pretend to understand computers, software, etc. When I asked DH what he thought, he said "try not to think about it!"
;)

Can anyone help us out with this? It is very difficult to try to read the resort board!
Thanks!
Chris

I am also unable to access the Resorts Board. I get a popup that says "lexplore has caused an error in URLMON.DLL." I don't know if that helps to clear any of this up but....I have not been able to get on all day Sunday. Thank for any insight or help you can give!

Anyone else out there with a problem on the resorts boards?? I still cannot get on....any help anyone??

I'm not an Admin or a moderator, but I'll offer my observations and suggestions.

It's a Holiday weekend and many of the moderators and admins could be doing family outings, etc. It's also a voluntary and non-paying position, and they don't provide 24/7 support, so we have to be patient and keep trying.

I checked the Resorts Board just now and I don't see any problems with using it. I also looked at it Friday night, no problems then either. The screen is the proper size for me and I don't have any errors showing up.

However, I did notice some changes to the Resort Board, but I don't know how long it has been there before I noticed.

They have a Media Clip installed now that shows a clip of the Swan and Dolphin, they also have an animated gif above that. They also have an object that displays different images about Hotels, from Dreams Unlimited Travel, at the top of the page.

If you're having problems with your screen showing errors about a plug-in, it could be one of several things:

1. Your Windows Media Player or your Real One media player, (depending on which one you have set up) may not be able to play the movie type clip about the Swan and Dolphin. Windows Media Player and Real One are both free plug-ins, but you must download them and install them on your pc.

2. I believe the object that makes the display towards the top of the screen (from Dreams Unlimited) that shows different messages about WDW Area Hotels uses the new version of Flash. If so, you may not have downloaded the Version 6 Flash Player yet, which could cause an error message.

3. It could be from something else I didn't notice.

Usually, if something on a Webpage like this needs a newer version of a player, it will display a message and prompt you to 'click here' etc, but maybe with two of them, it's confused? LIke I said, mine is working fine and I'm just trying to help here with some ideas.

You can get the newest version of the Macromedia Flash Player from the Macromedia Company here:
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

hope that helps

I got that before, but it seemed to go away....WEIRD

As far as I know, we have all of the "players" mentioned -- we have no problems getting any other sites or specialized pages that we go to or things that are sent to us.
There is no message popping up to tell us to "get the latest and greatest here".
One additional thing that is happening at the bottom of the page is the "Buffering, at so many kbps and how many seconds left to go". Normally I only see anything about buffering when I am using sound clips, realaudio, MP3, etc. Never saw any info about buffering on DIS pages before.
Oh, well, guess I'll give up on Resorts forum. If you try clicking on the "bar" to move the page right or left, it moves a whole page width and you aren't any further ahead!

Thanks albiats, but I still get the error messages about a plugin and then the illegal operation/shutdown:(
I believe I have all the necessary software, and haven't had any trouble on any of the other boards.
So I guess like Sandy, I'm giving up on the RB at this point!

I am having trouble with the resorts forum page as well--it is all off to one side of my screen!

Help!

Thanks!
Sue

I just wanted to let you all know we've reported this to the webmasters. I hope they'll get things straightened out for you all soon. :)

I'm not sure this will help all of the problems, there seems to be more than one, but if you'll go to your user cp > edit options > style set and choose default, it might help.

until you find out what the problem is, you can disable the ActiveX controls in your browsers security settings, this will allow the page to load but not the Flash player or Media players

I am having different problems with all of the boards. I have the correct RealPlayer plug in, and the Swan/Dolphin clip plays OK, but the page does not allow me to scroll using the window's scroll bars, only the page up and page down keys on my keyboard. I do not have ActiveX enabled in my browser, and I tried changing my user control panel preferences to "default" but this has no effect on the display of the boards.

I tried viewing the board using a browser in which RealPlayer wasn't installed, which caused an alert about not having the plug-in, but eliminated the scrolling problem. This makes me think it is a problem with that Swan/Dolphin clip. I seem to remember my problem starting at about the same time that this clip was added to the page.

Also, I don't know if this makes a difference, but I am using Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac.

hmmmm jeang, I know absolutely nothing about a Mac, but maybe you can try disabling Active Scripting, you will lose a little access to some features but you can still browse the boards and post,. I have no idea if that will work or not though

LisaTX,
I tried setting the default mode on user cp as per your suggestion, but it still did not fix the resorts board. Thanks for the idea! Anyone else?
Chris

Chris did you try to disable ActiveX controls in your security settings?
