Problems booking Disney hotel

Has anyone ever had trouble with all of them being unavailable? Friends trying to book room only for 2 nights mid March and all are booked from websites like Expedia, hotels.com etc yet I just checked the DLP for her and packages are available for same dates.
Do they only book a certain number of rooms for non packages?

I think the likes of Expedia etc buy a certain amount of rooms up from Disney so will only have a certain amount available to sell unless they request more.

Ahh so typical I booked my hotel and now she's gone to do hers she can't, wonder if she can book room only still with DLP for around the same cost as expedia etc were charging?

Try different expedia sites, they give different rates and possibilities
