Problems at Expedition Everest?

The much-discussed "Yeti" at Expedition Everest has been a "mechanical problem" since the soft-opening and AP/DVC previews in late January '06.

So much so that Disney Imagineering has decided to "pull the plug" on this "abomination of an Abominable Snowman" and remove "him" from the ride (at least for the foreseeable future).

"Tech" Headman, the maintenance crew supervisor of EE said he's sorry to see the Yeti go, but it will make for smoother operation of a ride that has already seen a precipitous drop in ridership since it first went "on-line" for previews.

"We're not trying to go backwards here", said Headman, "but the Yeti created a destructive atmosphere."

Many riders who first were lifted by the idea of the Yeti, change their position after a pause for reflection.

We have been both ways on this thing.
The Yeti, as he was constructed, is only a shadow of what we thought he could be, it just when downhill from there in a big way.

We thought the Yeti might just mean the end to the whole EE attaction if we continued in that way.

We want guests to enjoy best attraction experience.

After the dropping of the Yeti, we hope more people will scat back to the queues again.

Whoa. Weird! How can they possibly justify removing the central character of the ride's story? It's inconceivable to me that they couldn't design something that would work, given the time and money that went into the ride. Cost 'containment' at it's most foolish.

I'd argue that it's the lack of the functioning Yeti that has ridership down. That was the added thrill. Removing it altogether, and therefore removing any hope that this element will function again, is a bizarre end to this story....

We will continue to ride EE, with or without the Yeti. We usually skip the line and go with Single rider. Sure, 'someday' he may return, but we love the ride just the same.

What, did they hire auto execs or bank execs to oversee the project originally? Would explain why they can't make it work properly... ;)

I was about to get very sad until #1 Grumpy Fan's voice of reason! Oh Robo! :rotfl2:

Never trust anything posted by Robo on April 1st! The first lesson every good DIS'er must learn!

Darn, and I thought that noone would get me with any April Fools tricks today! Well, I don't have to tell anyone about this one, nobody actually witnessed it. :lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Actually when I went on 3/25 and rode, it was the first time I saw the strobe thing. I hope they get him fixed. I like him better all lit up and high fiving!!!!

Thanks for a great laugh!

Robo you are good. You had me going for a minute as well. :)

Awww...Robo you got me too! I was about to be so upset as my son will ride Everest for the first time this summer and I couldn't imagine the Yeti NOT being there.

Love the reporters name!!!! For a minute I was getting excited to tell my seven year old he could FINALLY ride EE. He's scared to death of the Yeti!

What else will Uno report today??:rotfl2:

Whew! I'm glad I read through all the posts before I told my husband there might not be a Yeti on our next trip!

You got me.
