Problem with linked reservations at VWL

We just returned from a trip where we ran into an interesting problem. Wondering if anyone else has experienced.

I made reservations at VWL for a 2BR and had 14 developer points remaining so I wanted to use them up. I could only confirm 2 nights and put the 3rd on the waitlist.

a few months went by and we got our 3rd night off the waitlist so I thought we were all set.

We arrived at VWL this past Sunday and when I went to check in, they had 2 separate reservations and they weren't linked in their system. They told me that I didn't have to change rooms, but I would have to check out and check back in for the 3rd night. This meant I had to pay my account for 2 nights and get a whole new set of 6 room keys for the last day.

I spoke to the supervisor and he said that since one reserveration included developer points, they couldn't be linked and there was nothing they could do. The only option he gave me was to have the new keys delivered to my room in the morning before we left for the day.

Feeling I had no other option, I said OK and asked for delivery at 9:30am. That morning came and after 10:00 still no keys. I had to call 2 times before they showed up and then there were no names printed on them. It took another half hour before they came back correct. My wife and I were NOT happy.

I want to call and complain but thought I'd see if anyone else had similar experiences first. Thanks!

We have this every year - - - we start in a Studio, then when the family arrives we add on the lock-off one bedroom. That does it - linked reservation or not you start over. Clear the balance, get new keys etc. until the family leaves and we stay in the studio, Start over again, keys, balance, etc. etc.

Now comes the fun part - - we decide to extend out stay - yep - you got it - clear the balance, yadda, yadda, yadda. Drives my husband crazy!! I am so used to it - I just get up in the morning of "the" day, go down to the front - get the new keys and we start over again. Lots of laughs!!

I have ony one key to my house - it never changes and I rarely use it - - but I'd still rather be at OKW changing my keys than anything else I can think of!!!:woohoo:

In your case, the reservations can not be fully linked, as you are changing room classifications from studio to a two bedroom lock-off. It will always be a separate reservation with a request to remain in your existing studio for the lock-off.

In the OPs case, I really don't know if Developer Points and members point reservations can be linked, either. Usually full linking is done automatically if the points come from the same account and are for the same room size and booking category. But Developers Points are never really added to the individual "member account", they come from a separate pool.

Agreed Chuck. I would have thought that since I made both reservations with the same member number for the same size room at the same resort, it wouldn't be a problem.

Guess I was wrong.... Oh well, not the worst thing in the world!

You are right about my room size change - that is a given. But even if we stay in the same room - same bed - don't even change the sheets - if we extend our stay we have to do the clear the balance, get new keys, etc.

Still think it is all worth it to be at OKW!!

we had a 2 night ressie (waitlist that came thru), followed by a 5 night ressie
(both the same catagory: BWVs studio, BW view).

MS said they did, but didn't, link the ressies. FD said we would have to check-in/check-out/check-in. not thrilled, but just wanted to get started on our vaca so okay.
what was NOT okay, was when the FD CM gave us the total for the DDP. she charged us for NINE nights (2 for the first ressie, then 7 for the entire ressie including the 2 night she already charged us for).
took about 45 minutes (so your total is $xxx.xx, no its $xxx.xx. oh, okay...& repeatedly started to run my amex for the higher amount. btw, she refused to use a calculator ~ i just multiplied by $40 in my head:sad2: ),
finally, we had enough, & asked for a manager. he "did the math" (in his head:rolleyes1 ), & figured out that i was correct (sorry, but i wasn't going to pay an additional $150+ for literally nothing). he also linked our ressies.
on a whim, i checked our room charges 3 days later, & they put the extra $150+ on it anyway!!
another 2+ hours to finally get that fixed (concierge refused to help, citing no one could do it after 5PM, winds up he just wanted to go home & left:confused3 .......finally, begged an FD clerk, who was amazing (yes, i informed the manager about him) & removed the extra charge.

lesson learned: call back being told your ressie is linked, & double check .
:)
