Problem w/ Period - Trying to Get Pregnant**Update pg 2**

I have PCOS as well - no periods, and took 3 1/2 years to get PG.

Hopefully at your doctor's appointment today you will have a standard fertility work-up (blood test) - for thyroid, prolactin, FSH, LH and there is one more that I can't remember. Start charting your temperature as soon as possible.

Your doctor might recommend you go on Clomid which should make you ovulate. But I have seen too many women waste precious time on Clomid at the recommendation of their OBGYN's. You might need more specialized care than that. Ask for a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist. It may take A LONG TIME to get an appointment, often you have to have been trying for a year. But if you have evidence that you are not ovulating (either by ovulation predictor or temperature charts), you may be able to get in sooner, especially in light of your age.

Try not to worry, though. It has been less than 4 months. And you still have plenty of time.

Thanks again to everyone who responded!

She does think I am ovulating and said that when someone is not ovulating - you do not see them having a period every 4-5 weeks and therefore, she thinks it is likely I am ovulating and that my body is still trying to re-adjust from the pill and she also thought that stress could be a factor (I am anxious to get pregnant and I am a litigation attorney with a demanding mean boss so my days are very pressure filled!!)

Hi again! Thanks for the update from you...I was wondering how the drs. appt. turned out. One thing I did notice is that she said that she thought you were ovulating because you were having a period every 4-5 weeks. I just wanted to give you a heads up, and of course, I don't want to scare you, but I do want you to be informed...

I was like clockwork, getting my period between 31-33 days every month. To every doctor, this seems like a normal cycle. However, most months I WAS NOT ovulating, and on the few months that I did, my ovulation was so weak that I couldn't have gotten pregnant even if everthing was timed perfectly and the moon and the stars were aligned.

Just something I want you to think about. Also, I also agree with the poster who recommended a reproductive endocrinologist. I'm seeing one (actually had my 9 week appointment this morning!) and she has been so helpful. I really think without her we wouldn't have known what was going on, and we would have wasted some valuable time. 32 is definitely young, but in baby making times, if you are over 30, they might be willing to make exceptions if you suspect a problem instead of waiting a full year.

Again, this is all speculation, but it's always good to know all sides. It could just be that your body needs to work itself out. But if you don't want to wait to find out, there are options out there...

If you do decide to use the OPK sticks this month, and you have a Dollar Tree near you, I highly recommend going there for your sticks. They are a dollar apiece, and it's a lot cheaper than buying the brand names, especially if you'll have to use them for more than a week (which with your cycles, you'll probably have to). My dr said that the Dollar Tree OPKs and Pregnancy tests work just as well as name brands. In fact, the Dollar Tree pregnancy test was the first to pick up my pregnancy this time, because it only needs a small amount of pregnancy hormone to turn positive. Another bonus!!

Just an opinion, but you might also want to start testing on Cycle Day 10 all the way until you get a + result, to make sure you don't miss it. Hope you don't mind all the advice!!! ;)

Anyway, good luck with everything - this is such a hopeful yet crazy time...trying to get pregnant is so ironic. You spend all this time trying to PREVENT pregnancy when you are younger, and now, you'd do ANYTHING just to make everything work right! :goodvibes

I PM'd you the name of an AWESOME OB/GYN in your area who helped my good friend get pregnant when she had been told that she had no hope of ever doing so. I went to him for years after that also...he is a total peach to boot :flower:
