OK, we currently have a BWV studio and 2BR for next March 25-30, our school's spring break.

DW's brother (It's DW family's turn to be our guests, planning on DBIL, DSIL, and DFIL, and DMIL going with our family) has requested to collaborate on where we go, and that we not go to Disney World. We being the gracious hosts that we are, have agreed to go to Vero Beach..

I'm over the fact that they don't want to go to Disney World, Besides, we've never been to Vero and I'm sure that it will be fantastic :sunny:

Now my question is, if we want to book a studio AND a 2BR same dates. (Check in on Sunday 3/25 and check out Fri 3/30) do you think booking day by day, right at 7 months, when Member Services opens for calls will work? I guess another option is to seek out a Vero owner for a trade??

I'm also pretty sure that if the 2BR and Studio aren't available, Inn rooms will be. Also, for those looking to get a studio and 2BR, Standard view at Boardwalk. I'll post if/when my current reservation gets cancelled.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Ya might be sorry ya asked! :rotfl2:

If I understand your post -- you're using your points to take extended family on vacation -- and the majority of them have said they don't want to go to WDW....but are 'willing' to accept VB...I'd tell 'em...shove off! :rotfl2:
Find their own vacations!!!

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

I think you'll love Vero. In fact, I am trying to get a 2-bedroom for a week in late July. I am on the waiting list trying to book day-by-day and have 4 of the 7 days I need. Keeping my fingers crossed for the remaining 3-days. :wave2:

But with that said, I agree with DVCconvert. Holy cow! :lmao:

We invited some relatives to join us this summer, they told us they don't like Florida! :confused3 So, we nicely told them we are sorry they can't join us. We're going to Florida without them. :smooth:

We have also vacationed 3 times in the past with neighbors. What is the neighbors idea of fun? Sitting inside all day smoking and complaining. :smokin:

My idea of fun is now just going with my immediate family and the heck with everyone else. :woohoo:

Thanks for the comments, I probably should share some more info/backfround so the perspectives are more clear. I know it sounds like DWs family are being spoiled brats. In fact, I'm going to edit my original post, as I seem to be coming off as a bit of a brat after reading this post compared to the last.

We bought the DVC with full intentions of sharing with our friends and family (alternating my side and DW’s side), every other year or so. DW’s brother asked to be included in the planning/destination selection for the 2007 trip. They have no kids, live in mid town Manhattan, and like to travel to different places rather than go back to a place they’ve already visited.

The last time we all traveled together to WDW was in December 2003 (everyone went dutch, as we’d just joined DVC and did not have time to re-plan a “sharing” trip). It was a large group of 16 with members of both sides of our family. We were really glad we took that trip as in January 2004, DW’s sister was killed in a car accident.

For 2007, we originally had planned on getting 2 Two bedrooms. In March I invited our widowed BIL, our niece and nephew (now almost 6 and 4), and his girlfriend (who has done a great job with our niece and nephew), DW’s brother, his wife, and the in laws.

The widowed BIL really wanted to go, but already spent a lot of money this year and said they couldn’t go. We said no problem, we’ve got 30 plus years to take them another time so we only booked a Studio and One 1BR at BWV.

Also around this this time, we heard from DW’s brother that he didn’t want to go to WDW. MIL and FIL didn’t care where we went, but recently FIL found blockage in his heart and had by-pass surgery last month.

It’s not impossible to say that DW’s family may have an issue with WDW as that’s the last place they saw their sister-daughter-wife-mom alive. I know when we went with my family last year, DW and I got emotional when we rode past CSR, where we all stayed in 2003.

We were initially disappointed and mildy upset that they asked to change the terms of a “gift”. But after reflection, realize that there are many factors to consider when inviting folks on a trip. I’m confident that we’ll have a great time at Vero Beach and feel blessed that we have DVC for a long time, which is what probably will take to heal wounds and to have DW’s family give WDW another chance for new memories.

Sorry about your sister in law. Your post is just an example how things can sound a totally different way in writing on the internet.

With the additional background info, I can see how going to Disney may be an emotional roller coaster for your wife's family.

Your additional post also reminded me and I hope others that while it is wonderfull to offer a gift, it is good to remember the reason for the gift. In your case spending quality time as a family is the main reason for the gift, so heading somewhere that some of the family may be uncomfortable with defeats the purpose of the gift.

I can't answer your question, but I do hope you have a great time in Vero Beach.

Of couse no one really knows the answer....

I have only one experience booking VB. We were booking 2 OVIR's for President's week (a popular wk in WDW anyway) and had no problem booking day-by-day at 7 months around 9-10am. The second day I asked about a 1 bdrm because some friends were interested and they had those available as well.

You have the advantage that your week is not a week around Easter. Humm... How much of a risk taker are you? It is also easier taking a chance with just your family rather then the whole clan.

Good luck.

Thanks NJOYURLIFE and lisareniff,

How much of a risk taker am I? Well, that depends on what the risk is. Overall I'm a greater than average risk taker, and I’d say in this case, I’m not too worried about trying to take a trip with DW’s family to Vero Beach.

If we can get the 2BR and Studio or Inn rooms, at 7 months great; if not, then we’ll look at a trade, or go to plan B which is either Hilton Head or a concierge collection choice. I’m sure we’ll come up with something.

Thanks again.

I think you will be fine booking all at once and not booking day by day. Of course you could always call the first day and ask a general question of avaiability, i.e. CM is there a lot or a little availability. I know it is a risk but most CM's are honest and upfront if it look as if there is a chance that the resort is filling up fast. BTW check out the Inn room instead of the Villa. views are better for the same amount of points.
