Probably a stupid newbie question, but why does the official Disney site list

different/fewer characters for the restaurants? For example, the website lists Lilo and Stich for the Ohana b-fast, but from reading posts here, Mickey is always there, too.

It makes it hard for us newbies to choose our ADRs, so I am wondering....

Because only Lilo and Stitch are guaranteed to be there. The other characters may change so they don't advertise them.

You should pick up a guidebook like the Unofficial Guide. It goes into great detail over which characters are likely to be at which meals. Of course, all of them are subject to change at Disney's whim.

I strongly recommend a guidebook for any and all newbies (Birnbaum's has some good ones too).

I prefer passporter for my guidebooks. More user friendly IMHO. More specifics also.
