Probably a silly interactive wand question but??

I am heading to Universal in a week. I have a surprise trip for my nephew planned in Jan for his b-day. I want to buy him an interactive wand for his b-day with a note form Hogwarts.

So my question is if I buy the wand next week will it work in Jan? I know probably a silly question but I don't want to buy it now if he can't use it in Jan.

Why wouldn't it? I bought one in July and left it in my Owner's Locker to use when I go back next summer.

Instead of buying the wand now, you may want to go with the note from Hogwarts along with a Universal gift certificate where he can pick out his own wand. Or you could go through the show at Olivanders. If you stop by Guest Relations on the way into the park and get a free Birthday Celebration button it would improve your odds of him getting picked.
