Probability of 2 family members getting in Hot Seat?
Who Wants to be a Millionare

I'm not sure but we beat those odds!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

OK quickie report!!!

We were at the 3:55 show on Sunday May 25, 2003. A lovely lady gets up with the first fastest finger question. When the top 10 board came up seat number 288 was #1. That's ME!!!!!:smooth: From this point on I'm in kind of a daze, ME #1, unbelievable, impossible. I think it's the 8,000 pt question and it was what sign of the zodiac is May 2? She used 2 life lines, 50/50 and ask a complete stranger (who gave her the wrong answer) A. Taurus B. Gemini. I knew this, it's A. She's leaves and now the top 10 board again, and WOW it's seat #288, yippiee.!!!! I sit in the hot seat and let me tell you I was more nervous about seeing me on that big screen then about answering the questions, lol.

I zip through the first couple of questions, don't ask can't remember :o , I guess I was nervous. I make it to the 1000 pt question and therefore win a baseball cap, a lanyard and 5 exclusive pins. But the amazing part of all this to me was what happened when they do the top 10 board again and seat # 287 is number 1, that's my 12 year old son!!!:earseek: :earsboy: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Micheal our wonderful host was also surprised!! I get up to the 16, 000 pt ask for 50/50, only have one life line left, ask a complete stranger remaining. I know the answer is B. but I say A. final answer and immediately know I got the WRONG answer, still can't figure out why I said A:( . They start walking me off the stage and into the prize room and I hear that seat # 287 is now in the hot seat. That's my boy:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc . I can see him from the prize room but couldn't really hear because someone kept asking me all these questions. :D I wanted to watch DS. I get my prizes and I get to sit on the steps to watch him. He's just zipping through the questions also, can't believe how well he's doing. :sunny: :sunny:

He also gets to the 16,000 pt question and I must say his was harder couldn't even tell you what the question was. I think his only life line left was to ask a complete stranger so he took a guess and got it wrong.:( He was the last player for the game. I think that is something new, not carring a player over to the next game, starting each show with the fastest finger. He also won the same prizes. :smooth: He felt like he was KING OF THE WORLD for the rest of the day.

It really was amazing!!!  :smooth:

We had lots of fun and can't wait to try again. We plan on making it our first stop when we go down next.

What a great experience. Sounds like you both really enjoyed that experience. I'm glad for you.

Wow!

That's so neat! I love WWTBAM! DH and I have each gotten in to the hotseat on each of our last 3 trips, BUT never in the same show! I have also never seen a 12 year old make it --what a smart kid!

Sounds like you had a great time!

how fun! :)

when i was there in december two of my friends and i all got into the hot seat in the same show! one of the ladies in the audience kept saying that we must have been ringers. :p

The closest we ever got was me getting to the $250,000 point, and then failing miserably on where you find Chemistry books in the Dewey Decimal System (who would ever know this?)

The show then ended, but my g/f was number one on the list. She's quite shy, so she was actually happy she didn't have to go up. That's awesome though that you both got up there.

I think to get carried over to the next show you have to be in the process of the game. Ex would be if you are still answering questions and the time is up you get to stay for the next show and they bring you back out to finish!!

this happend whenI was there in March there was a lady who was in the hot seat fronm the previous show time and when the time came for the show I ahd entered she was brought back out! this time period I actually finished in the top 10 at #7 which was a first for me! She used all her life lines and had gotten to at least the final spot she could get prizes before 1 million point and got her question wrong. then they started with the #1 person and he did the same and he finished just as time expired!

I think if the person finishes before time expires they don't start with another person. Wait til next time and do fastest finger.

Just an educated guess

Good for you guys....

Last summer I was was in the audience for the first time. The first woman to go to the hot seat turned out to be with a family group who had all been in the hot seat at one time or another....they all had the baseball cap. There must have been about 6-7 of them in the group. We figured that was just a trivia-rich family.... -HM

Congratulations. My DS, one DD and I have all been on the Hot Seat on the same day. We usually have two or three family members in the top ten list on most shows.

I met a person on the Debate Board on the infamous debate thread on the thirty day rule who has several kids who have been on the hot seat numerous times. Prior to meeting Jeff on the DB, I had asked what was the record for getting family members onto the hot seat and was told about the family of homeschoolers who routinely get more than one member onto the hot seat. Later, I learned that this was a poster on the DB.

My son and I have both qualified and had to decline going onto the hot seat due to the thirty day rule at the same show. It was fun both qualifying during the same show but annoyed the CMs a little.

Finally, MGM has been trying to limit carryover contestants for over a year now. I have been carried over twice or three times and you can get nervous waiting to come back on. Now, the show will end in as little as 17 or 18 minutes if they do not think that they can get another contestant finished. I personally thiint that they should not discourage carryovers but I do not like the fastest finger quirestions (no one in my family has qualified on a FF questions).

Again, congratulations. Once you have been on the hot seat, you will want to keep coming back.

Thanks all,

I guess it's not so hard getting in the Hot Seat:o We had such a great time playing the game.

Everyone should try to play. Can't wait for our next trip down.

I am confused.... I thought the only way to get in the hot seat was by answering the Fastest Finger questions?

There are two ways of getting onto the hot seat at WWTBAM-PI. At the first of each show where there is not a carryover contestant, there is a fastest finger question. The person who gets this right often is just guessing (the times are so fast that you do not have time to think about the answer). CMs have told me that two or three four year olds have gotten onto the hot seat on FF questions.

For shows where there is a carryover contestant and for all contestants after the first one, the person in the hot seat is selected by how well you do answering the questions with the hot seat contestant. Every chair has a control panel and you need to be fast to make it to the hot seat. You get points based on speed and accuracy. The highest ten scores are shown after the 1000 point and the 32,000 point levels and whoever has the highest score when the contestant in the hot seat misses, then is the winner.

BTW, it is not that easy to get into the hot seat. However, there are a group of people who are able to get on the hot seat on a consistent basis. Again, congratulations.

What is this hot seat and how do you play it, where do you play it? Our first real trip to WDW is in 2 months and we are trying to figure out what to do and when...any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Michele

Thanks, too bad you weren't there as a random person. I actually had two life lines left at that point. I 50/50 it, and then got it down to 500's and 700's. I asked the random person, and they were completely clueless and said 700. 700 was actually what I saw in my head before the choices even came up, so I went with it.

All well, the grand prize is only a trip to NYC and I live two hours away, so it could have been worse.

Has it changed over to the cruise at WDW?

I messed up the 500,000 point question on my birthday :( Everyone sang Happy Birthday to me, and I was so nervous down there (and I am usually a ham)!!! Maybe next time...

Camping Disney

Who Wants to be a Millionaire-Play It is one of my favorite attractions at WDW. It is at MGM on the same street that the Little Mermaid show is at.

It is just like the network game show except that everyone in the audience has a chance to get onto the hot seat and there are no cash prizes. If you get five questions right, you get a baseball hat and five pins. If you get ten questions (32,000 points) you get a polo shirt and a total of ten pins and the hat. At the 1,000,000 point level you get a medal, a jacket and a free cruise. I met and have played a round with a past million point winner who I met on the Debate board. There are some other differences such as time limits for each question and the phone a friend lifeline is call a stranger.

BTW, if you want to have fun, sit outside the attraction near the fast pass machines during a show and you may be called to be the phone a stranger. I have done this twice and have been right both times for the person who called. You get a nice button if you are called as a stranger.

Have fun.

I want to be in the hot seat!!! We were at Disney 3 times last year. My 13 yr. old daughter and I tried about 3 shows during our trip. The closest I got was #2. She was in the #1 spot, but then missed the next question and dropped right off the board. You guys make it sound so easy. Any tips?
