Private messaging question

How come when I go to the main discussion forum
page it says (way down on the bottom)that I have 60 total messages in my folders?
I have exactly one in my inbox and 0 in the other two folders.Is it just a glitch or am I missing something?

I have the same problem Dan...except I usually have a big fat "0" messages
I'm waiting for the answer to this also. My PM machine is not very consistent in it's workings.

Dan, you've probably checked this but are you looking all the way back? Could there have been some messages that stayed there long enough that you aren't displaying them right now? Make sure that the pulldown box at the top for Show Messages From: shows the beginning.

Thanks Bob,I never even noticed the dropdown menu up there.This has been driving me crazy and it was right in front of me the whole time. Thanks again pal.

Bob, if you are still listening, another question....
How come it shows I have new messages at the bottom, like Dan mentioned, but when I go to look, they are messages I have read already? Thanks, Lisa

I don't believe that area of the Main Discussion Page is updated each time you hit it. It is either that or more probably that the info from PM isn't updated in "realtime". You might notice that when you log out and then log on later (after some set period of time within the board setup) the indicators on the threads will change to show the threads that are new since your last visit. It appears to me that only after being logged out for that time and then loging back in are the numbers associated with PM updated.

If I'm not making sense, let me know. I read back through this and it isn't the most clear and concise explaination that I've ever penned.

Glad it made sense, I just hope it is right. It is, afterall, just my own speculation.

I try to be careful over here. I have a tendency to be too technical sometimes. I have to be mindful of the computer experience level of the person to which I'm explaining an issue and everyone is different.

What pulldown box? Show messages from who(m) (it's late)? The beginning of what?

Hi MaryAnn
Click on "user cp", then click on "private messaging", from the row of options. A list of your messages will be displayed. Right above the list it says "list messages from", then there is a small box with an arrow. Click on the arrow and a menu will drop down. You can view all of your messages from "last 2 days" to.. "from the beginning". The small box next to that one, titled "jump to folder" lets you choose to view incoming or outgoing messages.....click on that arrow also for a drop down menu.
