Private Dessert Party

Hello all

The idea has been planted in my head that I would like to host a private dessert party for my guests in the evening of our Escape wedding, but I understand DFTW place $7500 minimum expenditure on the wedding when you add private catered events. This means that I would have to find an extra $2500 on top of everything else we are planning to spend and it's just a stretch too far! We are from the UK so our trip isn't going to be cheap anyway!

So I am wondering if a private dining event hosted with the Private Events dept at WDW may be an option? I have only found one review online about it but with no dates etc so I don't know if it's current and still possible. Information is very sketchy otherwise

I know I wouldn't be able to have it at Epcot as I wouldn't be allowed into the park in my dress without a DFTW guide

So our only option would be Grand Floridian which is fine, I love Sago Cay, but I just wondered if anyone has any experience in hosting one of these events not through DFTW (to avoid the minimum expenditure element)

It's the food/desserts that I'm wanting so if it's not possible, I'll just have to get my thinking cap on about keeping the family entertained (maybe I'll do a bulk order from Beaches and Cream ) and book into a MK Dessert Party instead for me and DFi!

Thanks!

What are you doing after your ceremony? We are having our VR at the Swan and then having dinner at Citrico's at the GF. We plan to walk down to Narcossee's landing after dinner (preferably with drinks in hand!) and watch 'Wishes' from there. They pipe the music in to this location too and it will be free!!
Fellow Disbride Wendy (WeeDee) did exactly this at her wedding and it worked out brilliantly for her. Just another option to consider, as you could keep your dress on and you wouldn't trigger the dreaded $7500.00 minimum spend!!

You have two options for planning a non-DFTW private event at the Grand Floridian: going through the resort's Private Dining department (407-824-2472) or going through Disney Catered Events (321-939-7278). It's probably easier to go through Private Dining, but the option is there in case you have trouble getting ahold of the GF or having them understand what you want.

Here's a great thread by a bride who planned a private anniversary party at the Grand Floridian.

For what it's worth, here's my account of planning an anniversary DP in Epcot through Disney Catered Events—the location might not be applicable to your situation, but it gives detailed info on when to book, cost, how to get a cake, etc.
