Priority Seating at the Rain Forest Cafe

Has anyone figured out their system yet? I was so frustrated with them at the AK last week! We had PS's for lunch and the place was packed when we came in. There was a line out the door for the elephant podium. We asked where we checked in if we had priority seating. In the same line that was out the door! It took us 20 minutes to get to the podium and another 30 minutes for our "adventure to begin". I can't figure out what the benefit is for priorty seating. What am I missing???

It is a form of slighly make believe reservations. Not really reservations but not really no reservations, put there because of the great amount of no shows when they had reservations. It is really similar to fast pass it cuts down on your wait in the line that has no fast pass(priority seating). You have an edge on those that do not have priorty seating but not much more. At the popular places at busy times it is a real joke as was your case but at other times it works just fine. For me I never had a problem with it at the better restaurants at WDW. It is a Disney invention that only WDW could get away with.

I think Priority Seating is becoming popular with many restaurants in general. Here in NC there are alot of places that use the PS system now. Sometimes it helps...and other times it doesn't. Is it half the wait time for PS at Disney? (ie. regular walk in wait is 1 hour, but I have PS so my wait is 30 minutes).
