Could someone explain to me how this work. Do you have to make your reservation online in order to get the points or do you give your number when you check in?

You do not have to make a ressie online. However you make your ressie--via internet, phone etc giving them your number when you make your ressie is the easiest way. Otherwise you can give it at check in but then watch your statements to be sure it posts. A good site for finding Priority Club (and other reward programs) info is www.flyertalk.com

I was a little confused on how the program worked, but your post cleared everything up for me.

Their web site says they have a new policy of not giving points on reservations booked through 3rd party websites like Expedia. I know you get them if you book online, and trust phone is fine too. I find their points are the easiest to us of any club. I have even called on the phone en route to a hotel before and stayed on my points.
