PrincessBrideKatie's PJ for 05/23/08 - YCG and Ashbury A/B - I dyed my crinoline!!

Congrats on losing the weight!!! :cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: It must have been so rewarding when you tried on the size 6! But why are you only allowed to lose five more pounds? Would losing more mean you would need an even smaller size?

congrats on losing so much weight!!! why don't you order the dress in a 4 instead of a 6? then you wouldn't have to take it in so much...OR you could just find another seamstress who would be able to do the repairs, davids likes to take a long time, but i'm sure that you could find someone else to do it in the time that you need it! OR (sorry for the or's...) why don't you have them ship the dress to you, then you can have it altered even sooner than you'd planned...we had to do that with my sisters dresses, since we're all in different states...hth.

Well, they felt that if I lost more than 5 more lbs I would need to go down another dress size... I really don't think so. There is no guarentee that I am going to lose more weight, but I want to. But with exams and christmas coming up I don't know how likely that will be. I think that it is harder to let a dress out, then to take one in, so they probably just want me to have the 6, cause who knows if i really can make it to a size 4. I've never been one in my life... except for like being in middle school. I'm getting down to about the smallest I have every been in my adult life. 7 more lbs and I will be smaller than I can even remember being ever (I just can't remember before highschool)

Congrats on the weight loss I think I will use you as an inspiration! I'm going to be in disney when you are!:woohoo: Im getting married in the Yacht Club Gazebo as well but on the 14th May 08! Ohh how exciting!:goodvibes

Congrats to you! I thought about doing the wedding that week, however the best man is still doing exams that week, so memorial day weekend it is for me. I have had no end of complaints from DF's family, they feel that the trips to disney are going to be so expensive... they should think about what my parents are having to pay to have it on a Friday night in the peak season...

I wish you lots of luck on losing however much you feel you want to.

Congratulations on losing all of that weight! I'm jealous, I've only lost 5 so far.. heh.

I definitely wanted the song from the ballroom scene in Enchanted ("So Close" by Jon McLaughlin) for my wedding after I saw that movie. :goodvibes

Thats so funny! We wanted to do the same thing! Its such a pretty song, I think we might use it for our first dance.

Poor u, I'm lucky, none of my family have been to disney before and they're all pretty excited.:cool1: It has been pretty expensive tho. we're coming all the way from England and my mum has 6 kids to pay for! I'm paying for myself and so are 3 other brothers and sisters (there is 10 of us!:scared1: ) But mum has paid for the dress and given me aprox $2000 towards everything.:cloud9:

I admit it, i am obsessed with my wedding and dont want to do anything else. Even though I have the first of my final exams in 3hrs. Oh well, I sent in my planning kit to Celeste yesterday, cause in 2 weeks DF and I will be going for our planning session, Very Exciting!

We have decided on a sit down dinner, but all we have really decided on is the soup, the Chedder Cheese soup from Le Cellier, cause it is amazing. We would like 2 options for guests, probably a chicken dish and another... but I dont know what.

We decided on the Bridge To Happiness Cake...
BridgeToHappiness.jpg

I think I might want the fondant on the cake to be blue, cause I think it doesnt currently coordinate too well with the wedding colours.

I was talking to DF last night about the Cinderella and Prince Charming that is pictured with it, and asked him what he thought of using Beauty and the Beast or Prince Phillip and Aurora, and he suggested that we get a cake topper made of Ourselves. I really didnt know what to say to that. I feel really bad turning down his ideas, cause he actually wants to be involved.

We have basically decided on invitations, but I wont order them til after the planning session.

I thought about using Cards and Pockets, but I just didn't have the initative. I dont really have time to put them all together.

We are going to have a String Trio for the ceremony, and since you have to pay for 3hrs, they can play at the cocktail hour too. Here is a list of the music we chose for the ceremony:

Prelude/Guest Seating: Selections from Enchanted
Our Grandparents & Parents: “You’ll be in my Heart” - Tarzan
Officiant/Groom/Groomsmen: “The Medallion Calls” - Pirates
Bridesmaids: “Princess Medley” - Fantasmic
Bride: "True Love’s Kiss” - Enchanted
Ring Bearer: “Second Star to the Right” – Return to Neverland
Recessional: “He’s a Pirate” – Pirates
Guest Exit: “Disney Medley”

Currently I dont know whether I will have a flower girl or not, my oldest brother told me back in Feb that he would come, and that he has been saving for 2 years to take his kids to disney, the only thing is, that in the 2 years, he has only save $900. I think that would cover his park tickets and thats it. His daughter was going to be my flower girl cause she is the youngest of my nieces.

So far already 35 people have told me they are for sure coming to the wedding, but that is not including if they bring a guest that they are not currently with, or just decide to bring someone so they dont travel alone. Still waitin on about 50 people to tell me whether they are coming or not. I just want to know now who is coming. My family is pretty bad about communicating, so I will likely not know anything til a month before the wedding.

Cant think of anything else right now. I will probably have a large update after the planning session.

Have a Magical Day!

Have a great time on your planning session!

My coordinator sent me pictures of Ashbury today and it's so beautiful! I've never seen pictures of it before, and I know I'm just telling you something you already know, but it really is gorgeous :goodvibes

I really like your invitations... I was looking at them because Snow White is my favorite :)

Thanks! With regards to the invitations, I just looked at them and it reminded me of DF, he always wraps his arms around me like that and sort of towers over me... but not too much, unless he is wearing his work shoes.

I like to hear that Ashbury is beautiful! I still am not sure if its what I want, but I was trying to not have to make everyone travel a whole lot between the ceremony and the reception.

Ok, So after my Planning Session trip to Disney, I came back to a message from my maid of honour saying that she wanted to meet up with me for coffee. Well the weekend she suggested just didn't work out. So she called me tonight, and said that I should find someone else to be my maid of honour. Its not that she doesnt want to. Its that she is going to be at school during that time and its the end of the first month of a new semester, and that means midterms, and at my school Business midterms can happen on weekends. So she doesnt want to say yes if she cant guarentee that she can make it to the wedding. And our school will not let someone defer an exam cause they are in a wedding, She checked. So now I must find a new maid of honour. And I have no idea who to choose.

Major Update Time!

Maid of Honour: I chose my SIL, I love her, and she was the first person I told about DF when we first started going out... I told her after dating DF for 2 weeks that I thought he was THE ONE and apparently I was right. So I thought it fiting that she be my Matron of Honour.
Her Dress: its from Alfred Angelo... and it separates the skirt will be tea length in Navy (cause she is short and then it doesnt have to be altered too much) and then the top will look like this (only with navy detailing):
Top.jpg

I also now have a Junior bridesmaid... I made this decision because of my train... I was not expecting to have one and I need someone to make sure that it always looks fabulous... therefore JUNIOR BRIDESMAID TO THE RESCUE! She will be wearing a dress from David's Bridal, I dont know how to copy the pic... so here is the whole wedding party... except MOH's dress is wrong.

Changed my mind on invitations... while at the planning session DF and I saw scroll invites and were like "those are the ones!!" and then when we got back home and emailed the Impressions I was told it would be like $1300 for 50, so I was like "ummm... thats a little out of our price range". So, since the wedding is not any one particular disney theme we thought the Mouse would be the best. So we are going with these:
foilwhite.jpg

Still about twice what I was going to pay for the Snow White ones.

Menu: Ok this has been redone about 4 times and will likely change again... but here it goes.
For the Cocktail Hour we will have:
Gingered Chicken Skewers
Bacon Crusted Beef and Blue Cheese
Crab Cakes
Premium Cheese Display

Dinner
Appetizer: Chedder Cheese Soup
Salad: Medley of Greens, Herbs and Flower Petals, Rosewater Vinaigrette and Toasted Sunflower Seeds
Main Course (Pick 1):
Seared Beef filet with Red wine Demi, Asiago cheese mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables
Thyme Marinated Chicken Breast with Cabernet Sauce, Belle Passe Cheese Risotto, and seasonal vegetables
Island Spiced Fresh Water Tilapia with Red Onion Marmalade, confetti rice and seasonal vegetabes

I would like to have a Sorbet course, however, right now the budget does not allow for it

Instead of normal rolls and butter, we have requested pretzel rolls and dijon butter like they have at CRT.

We are going to have the Call Brands bar package, I just hope that people drink! (Never thought I would be wanting that at my wedding)

We were also going to have a chocolate covered strawberry on each plate, but when I looked at the price I realized that they wanted more than $10 a strawberry! so they have gone too.

Cake Flavours. The top layer will be Almond Cake with Amaretto mousse, the second layer is Chocolate Cake and Raspberry Mousse, the cake that the bridge connects to will be Marble with Bailey's Mouse, and then there will be a sheet cake that will be yellow cake with chocolate mousse. I still cannot decide on what to have on the connecting cake. My mom did buy me this:
096942_wHR.jpg
but I dont know if I want it on my cake. Disney has it down that we want the cinderella prince charming that they carry, but its not the one from the picture... and thats the one I like. So, I dont know what I want for that.

I am happy with how I think my flowers are going to be, however I do not like what Rose has down for some of the centerpieces. I emailed her, but have gotten no response. I just figure its because its Feb and a million people are getting married or want disney florals.

I still have the landau coach included in my budget! this makes me happy cause I have always dreamed of arriving to my wedding that way.

My vision for my reception was to make the ballroom into a forest with tons of trees and twinkle lights. But... Disney's price for this = $10500! So again... it was cut. Now I have the standard ficus tree package, but I am thinking about exchanging it for the Storybook Entrance, I think that is really sweet, and would be a cute photo op.

We are using the Yacht Clubs linens, but having chair covers with a sash in dark blue.

In Disney's budget they have 2 motorcoaches included, in mine I only have one. I dont think enough people are going to be staying on Disney property for me to need 2. I may cut it completely, as I have only told family and they will have cars, or I could send the limo back for them.

I booked Randy Chapman for the wedding, and for a Trash the Dress shoot sometime in June, after my mother leaves and I dont have to worry about her finding out. I figure that my dress wasnt that expensive (I was expecting to pay between 2000 and 3000) so why not wear it again and get some amazing pictures. Randy says that we should get the pictures into contests etc cause they are going to be amazing... we are going to do at least part of it in DTD! DF always tells me he wants to walk through that fountain infront of Planet Hollywood... well during the shoot we are going to!

DF and I booked our honeymoon!!! We are going to Disneyland two days after the wedding! Neither of us have been there before and are really excited! We are going to stay at the Grand Californian! When I told me SIL (who's never been to WDW), she was like "wait... isnt that where you are getting married?" There are way to many people in this world that don't know the difference.

With all of the plans there comes a final budget, and its scary, but then I realized something, we get the deposit back in the end... but I didnt figure that into my calculations. It made me happier, cause now I have a little more wiggle room in the budget for changes.

OK. thats it for today... stay tuned for more drama whenever it happens :surfweb:

OMG! I love that Minnie & Mickey cake topper! Would you mind telling me where your mom got it? Its adorable!

Mmm, your menu sounds delicious! I think we are going to have something similar. I love that pretzel bread, I'm going to request that too :thumbsup2

Its by Lenox, so you can get it from Lenox.com. My mom got it from a collectibles store in the mall nearby...

Yeah, we knew when we started picking the menu that we had to have pretzel bread.

Oooo I can't wait to see your trash the dress photos! I think that's such a cool thing but I don't think I have the guts to do it! :rotfl:

I dont have the guts to tell my mom! :) I wont do it til after she has gone back home. I wouldnt do it if I had spent thousands on the dress, but mine was only $550. It gives me a second time to wear the dress... not many people have a chance to wear their wedding dress again. I know that WHEN i eventually have a daughter, she won't want to wear it, the style won't likely be in style then. So I dont feel that I need to have it preserved or anything.

Your menu sounds very good and I love your cake topper! Are you going to ask guests to choose what they want for dinner on your RSVP cards?

My cousin got married in Cuba and she did the trash your dress thing. I couldn't go but saw the pictures and they had lots of fun in the pool and in the ocean. She said her dress wasn't too expensive and she wasn't going to wear it again so she might as well have fun in it.

Yeah, we have it written as choices of Chicken, Beef, Fish or Kids meals. So that if I decide to change one it will be still be the same type of meat.

i wonder if you're the trash your dress shoot that randy told me about???? i was going to trash my dress, but decided not to, i just love it too much and mark got really mad when i suggested the idea. we were talking about it with randy and he said he had just booked a tyd shoot for this summer! how cool! dtd sounds like a really cool place to do it! you could go in the middle of those jumping water fountains!

i was going to do mine at my dh's nightclub, in the middle of the crowded packed dance floor when he was dj'ing...that is, until he got SUPER mad at me for even thinking about it...

I was thinking about those fountains too! and laying down on the grass next to the water.

Sorry you aren't getting the tyd shoot, my DF is more of the opinion that if its what I want to do, then why not?
