Princess Weekend 2023 (Feb 23-26, 2023)

I’m hoping to run the Princess Half and have a question about POT. I’ve read a few times to skip this and come back to it later during registration since it can be edited until November. So when I get to the POT question should I say that I’m going to run slower than 2:15 and change it later? Or that I’m going to run faster than 2:15 and enter some bogus information?

I would recommend just saying slower than 2:15 and change it later.

I guess we should just plan on having Moana as the 10k theme in 2024 to complete the set (5k in 2020, challenge 2022, half 2023). Ha ha ha.

Really was hoping for Snow White and Merida.

We decided not to renew our APs this summer, so I had 95% decided to take a year off of runDisney. Was anxiously waiting to see what the themes/artwork are for Princess.
Cons for me are that 1) I don't have APs and would probably just make it a resort-only trip, 2) THE PRICE really seems to be creeping up 3) Moana AGAIN. Don't get me wrong, I like that movie, but soo many in a row. If Jasmine was anything but the 5k (which I wouldn't run) it would be much more enticing. 4) This doesn't work with my work schedule great. It's do-able but not great.
Pros are: 1) This artwork is amazing. If the medals or shirts are anything similar it would be my favorite shirts/medals 2) The experience last year was so good. I love a women's-focused race. 3) I'm probably in the minority but I'm a traditionalist I guess, I like Cinderella for the Challenge, getting back to the roots of the Glass Slipper Challenge.
Luckily we have time to mull it over... I might let fate decide and not jump in the queue immediately, see if anything is available later.

... and I forgot it's an anniversary. Another pro.
Anybody know if any "good neighbor" hotels with a really nice pool, also have some kind of race weekend package? With or without transportation to the races?

The new JW Marriott at Bonnet Creek did a race weekend package for MW this past year. Small pool, but high end. No idea what the experience was like but DH is a Marriott Titanium and got an email about it. We'd already booked DVC, though.

If that's out of the budget range, we've had family stay at the Delta near Disney Springs a few times and they've really liked it. No idea if they do a race package, though.

A ton of credit to whoever is running design over there though, theyve been knocking it out of the park.

That's true....I love Mary Blair.

I guess looking at it that way, I could come to appreciate it. But, I would need the Mary Blair of it all to be really obvious, like kicking me in the face.

When I look at it, I just think of the current Mickey designs where it's just like....why?

Yeah I got that on a Google search and it looked good! That JW Marriott @The Expert suggested looks nice too but pricier.

I stayed at Hilton Signia for MW this year. They have transportation to the half and marathon— for PW I think only the half or maybe the challenge? There is one bus and it leaves at 3 am. Before the bus they set up A LOT of food and drinks and they have their staff all out cheering with music. It is fun but jarring so early!
The hotel has a very nice pool with a LAZY RIVER. One caveat is that for MW there was construction and this incessant banging noise that made the pool unusable. I would hope that construction will be done by PW 2023. We ended up getting our resort fee (which is pretty hefty) waived because of this.
They also have a runners concierge and give you a gift. I think it was a cooling towel and drink coupon. There was a special pasta buffet the night before the race that was okay.
The worst part was that the walk back to the Hilton bus after the race was LONG— it’s where the drop offs are in the morning outside security as opposed to where all the other busses are.
I do think you also get late checkout!
If you want a room with a bathtub you need the one with two Queen beds. The king bed room only has a shower.

It’s a lot more Mary Blair than the new animation style. I totally get what you’re saying about that. The first time I saw the new style was in 2019 and I’m sure my face said it all.

I get what they're going for, but I would prefer closer to how the characters look in their respective movies.

I cannot do the race in person, but may go for the virtual challenge. Although I wish Maui was also on the Moana medal.

I think it's so bizarre that Moana has been used to much in recent years. BUT, I had to miss last year's PW due to an injury in January, so the fact that Moana and Cindy are on both 2022 and 2023 makes me feel like I should register for the challenge in 2023. I'm already doing W&D and MW (half only). Hmmmm.......
