Princess Weekend 2023 (Feb 23-26, 2023)

Just a few posts up (link).

If you purchase Club runDisney on May 3rd 2022, then the membership is good from October 1st 2022 to September 30th 2023. So as it relates specifically to Princess Weekend 2023, you will not get any sort of registration benefits because Princess registration is in June 2022. But you would get early Expo access with a Gold membership since Princess occurs Feb 2023 and that falls within your membership window of Oct 2022 to Sept 2023.

The registration benefits of a Club runDisney membership purchased on May 3rd 2022, would be good for Wine and Dine 2023, MW 2024, Princess 2024, and SS 2024. But the expo entry benefit would be good for Wine and Dine 2022, MW 2023, Princess 2023, and SS 2023. In order to get the benefits of both registration and early expo access for a single weekend requires you to have two years of memberships.

When you are given the registration benefit as a Club runDisney member, it is a guaranteed entry. There is no rolling of dice. 2022-2023 Gold allows one registration per race weekend for only yourself, and 2022-2023 Platinum allows two registrations per weekend for only yourself (you can't use the two to purchase one HM bib for yourself and one HM bib for your spouse).
thank you and I appreciate all the information and quick reply. Basically in our case, there isn't any benefit to purchasing a gold membership, based on this info, so we will wait for the general registration period and keep our fingers crossed for at least one of the races.

So basically, if I sign up for platinum level Club runDisney for me and DH, then sign up for Dopey, and buy a couple of tee shirts at the Expo, and do that for two years to get full benefits for some races, then I have spent about $6000! And that is before travel expenses, hotels, food, and park tickets. No thanks!

Yes, that sounds about right:

Two Dopey 2024 Registrations ~$1300-1400
Two Club runDisney Platinum Oct 2022-Sept 2023 ~$1700 *Gets you early registration for Dopey 2024
Two Club runDisney Platinum Oct 2023-Sept 2024 ~$1700 *Gets you early expo entry for Dopey 2024

Total = $4750 + whatever you spend at the expo with your early entry

I think the value of runDisney Club membership is when you do multiple race weekends every year. Since the membership allows early reg. and early expo to every race weekend within that window of time. So the more you go, and if it's an every year thing, then it's more valuable.

And about 30 days till I figure out if I’m paying $$$ for a virtual lol
Since they got smart and put Genie for the challenge medal for W&D, I'm fully expecting some randomness, and then Merida for the challenge medal. Because if nothing else, Disney knows which characters I'm willing to cough up money for.

I'm also guessing we will get a Snow medal this year (it's been a couple of years, right?) along with Pocahontas and Aurora.

i'm hoping it isn't ariel. i love her too much ! lol save her for 2024... when im budgeting princess weekend :)

Yeah they *just* use Ariel and Belle 2 years ago. I would hope they would rotate some other princesses back in, although they did use a Tiana 2 years in a row.....

We just had Mulan, let’s get a Meg medal. Or Esmeralda (despite the fact that she, like Mulan, is at no point a princess of any sort)
Mulan is at least in the official line up

Meg, Esmeralda or Giselle are the non princess line up ones that would make me consider a virtual

Moana and Elena have been used and they aren’t in the official line up and the three I mentioned HAVE been in the designer series (moonlight masquerade)

With 3 races each year, and 11 princesses (official or not... I did not know Moana hasn't been inducted yet), I think the princesses in general would rotate every 4 years if they don't repeat. Sounds like we're coming back around in the rotation. I like Snow White and its historical significance so I'd be good with her coming back in 2023.

I don't think Princess weekend would go 90s since that ties in to the 30th anniversary of the marathon. Since Frozen is the summer series, I'm not sure who they'll chose since there's no big anniversary in 2023, is there?

Animated anniversaries for 23:
-Melody Time (75 non princess)
-Peter Pan (70 non princess)
-Sword and the Stone (60 non princess)
-Robin Hood (50 non princess)
-Oliver & Company (35 non princess)
-Mulan (25) but she was just used for 22’s half
-Brother Bear (20 non princess)
-Bolt (15 non princess)
-Frozen (10) not in the “official” line up… being used for 22 virtuals
-Ralph Breaks the Internet (5… comfy Princess Squad theme anyone??)

Repeating my guesses from earlier in this thread:

Let's take a look at some past themes, going back to 2018, which is the first year they started having a specific princess for each race, instead of an overall theme for the weekend.

2022: 5k Cinderella, 10k Tiana, half Mulan, challenge Moana
2021 virtual: 5k Ariel, 10k Rapunzel, half Belle, challenge Tiana
2020: 5k Moana, 10k Pocahontas, half Cinderella, challenge Sleeping Beauty's 3 fairies
2019: 5k Elena, 10k Mulan, half Aurora, challenge Jasmine
2018: 5k Rapunzel, 10k Merida, half Snow White, challenge Cinderella

So let's take a look at theming since 2018, the first year they had a different princess associated with each race. Five years, 4 races each year, that means 20 princesses used for medals. Overall totals are as follows:

Cinderella 3 (2022 5k, 2020 half, 2018 challenge)
Tiana 2 (2022 10k, 2021 challenge)
Mulan 2 (2022 half, 2019 10k)
Moana 2 (2022 challenge, 2020 5k)
Rapunzel 2 (2021 10k, 2018 5k)
Aurora 2 (2019 half, counting the 2020 3 fairies challenge as one for the Sleeping Beauty franchise)
Ariel 1 (2021 5k)
Belle 1 (2021 half)
Pocahontas 1 (2020 10k)
Elena 1 (2019 5k)
Jasmine 1 (2019 challenge)
Merida 1 (2018 10k)
Snow White 1 (2018 half)

Snow White and Merida have both only been used once, and in 2018, so we are due to have them on medals again. Jasmine, Ariel, Pocahontas and Elena (and Belle, I left her out when I first posted this) have also only been used once, but Pocahontas (and Belle, again left out the first time I did this) was used most recently, and I think Elena was not a good choice to begin with, so I cannot imagine them using her again. All this to say, if Frozen is indeed the virtual series theme this summer (which it is), then my guesses for 2023 medals would be (in no particular order) Merida, Snow White, Ariel, and Jasmine.

Merida, Snow White, Ariel, and Jasmine.
Oh man, if that lineup happens then I'll have no choice but to add the Princess race back into the rotation! It's not typically my weekend of choice, but these right here would be amazing! 🥰
