Princess Power - September 2016 Weight Loss and Lifestyle Change Challenge

My inner voice is my worst enemy! Especially at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. It is also the reason I listen to music or a podcast while I'm running. It is something I am really trying to work on and at the races last weekend I was actually pretty positive when things got tough.

For this weekend I had planned awhile ago to go to WDW to see the fireworks and the parade, I never get to see them because we always do what the kids want to do but this time it's my turn :)

Hope you enjoy the fireworks :D

I am going to report in - I'm afraid I am not leading by example this month - I am at 0% - I am having trouble getting my walking groove back o_O

The Fairy Godmother gave Cinderella a makeover to go to the Ball. A good makeover can give you a confidence boost and help you feel special. Share with us a picture (or 2) of a time when you feel like the Fairy Godmother gave you a makeover (or you did it yourself lol) and you looked and felt fabulous – it can be recent or long, long ago (mine will be). Share the story that goes with your special picture … only if you want to of course.

Have a great weekend :D we will move on from Cinderella after the weekend.

Quick check in and then I'll be back later on :)

I lost a pound this week which puts me at 25% to goal. Happy about that! I have my first 10K tomorrow morning so I'm excited to get my packet today!

Rough week though - a teammate and friend of mine was let go on Thursday so I've not been in a great place the past couple of days so that just adds to it. I was off work yesterday so next week is going to be weird when he's not sitting across from me like usual.

image.jpeg Weekly Check-in... Woohoo, finally something positive to report: down 2.5 pounds, for 31% of the goal for the month. I've had a couple days with less than 10,000 steps but my average is above so I'm going to give myself 100%.

First day of the cleanse is in the bag. It went ok but I was hungry all day and had a nasty headache by the afternoon. I feel asleep on the bus ride home and went a couple miles past my stop, fortunately the bus makes a loop and then heads back to town. I got a nice tour of the neighborhood just south of me, into an area I never go.

It always amazes me how quickly my body responds when I remove dairy and gluten, this morning my breathing is so much smoother and satisfying.

image.jpeg So I'm obviously not very handy with uploading pictures. This is from my May trip, dinner at Garden Grill. I'm looking pretty good considering I had taken the red eye from the left coast the night before, and hadn't gotten a room assigned until 5pm, so only had enough time to change and clean up before running over to EPCOT for dinner. I've gained back probably 12 pounds since then so I need to really get going to get back down in to that range before my trip in October.

Friday question - inner voice
It's the stories that we keep telling ourselves that make or break us

I kept telling myself - 1) I am like my aunt and dad and granddad. 2) I am prone to weight gain. 3) I love food too much. 4)I love ice cream. 5)Vacation could not be the same without ice cream. 6) I will always struggle with weight. 7)Keeping fit and slim is hard.

Until I keep telling myself that type of things it will be hard, I will struggle, it will e a battle

Switched to - 1)I am like my granny. I intuitively know what is good for me and I have the will power to do what is good for me.
2) I am small boned and feel best when I am lean
3) I love healthy food, I love good salads, yummy fruit, fish - there is so much choice of healthy and tasty food
4)I love watermelon (this alone made my summer - fancy treat = buy the yummiest watermelon you can find. 1kg of watermelon = 300 calories, tub of ice cream ben and jery's cinnabun 1235calories. Yes, I had full 500g tub of ice cream in the past. After tub of ice cream - sugar rush, sugar down, want more sugar. After watermelon, full belly, full energy, feeling good and satisfied.
5) Vocations are opportunity to enjoy my health and vitality.
6) Feeling good is so much fun, this is now me! I can't get enough of my new gym, the tasty but healthy food I am having, I love feeling good in my clothes and in my bikini - it's awesome. Having that much fun, I can't imagine it living any other way!
7) being overweight (or nearly) was hard. I was feeling so down, it impacted my confidence, the way I interact with others, my career. I lost 12 kg. 26.5 lbs. It was hard carrying this fat around, it was weighing me down. Feeling good about myself makes living easier and happier.

I had to ask myself the question what believes I have that keep me having to loose weight again, going up and down again and I had to be really honest about it. To me the question was not what's preventing me to loose weight, but what's preventing me to keep it off. In order to commit to who I am now, I had to deal with the believes and until I gave foods as ice cream a power over my happiness or the perception of it, it was going to continue to be hard. I said it before - little bit like teenage girl with bad boyfriend. I know you give me spots, I know you give me sugar rushes and down, I know I feel guilty but I wonder can I not have you for the whole year and then have a lot on my vacation as I just can't imagine life without you! How silly thoughts like this are! You know what, you make me feel rubbish, you are never enough, I just don't want you anymore! There are so many things that are good for me that I love and can choose to focus on. I am just too good for you (lol) so get lost

I did before after picture I carry on my phone and I look at sometimes. It reminds me how low I felt in the before and it helps with keeping my inner voice in line with who I want to be, and who I feel I really am.

check in: 16%. I did my best 5 days out of 10 (but % out of 30). I also broke my weight loss plateau - lost another pound. Total 12.3kg lost, 27 lbs. 1.7kg only to go. Feel fantastic!

I bought wonder woman costume for MNSSHP.. I think I have lost it! I will tone it down of course, wearing solid leggings of body colour and perhaps even body colour top under to avoid excessive exposure. But I felt awesome trying in the shop. It was too big and I end up ordering it from Amazon in smaller size

That article 4Mickeys posted really helped me, it was the perfect moment to read it and get my mind in the right happy & confident place again.

I love this photo - you look like you are having fun - and I really like your hair - thanks for sharing!

I like this idea - I know I am now who I really am right now.

haha Wonder Woman - I love it! I hope you can find it. I am so glad that article helped - clearly I was meant to find it to help you this month as host - because when I read your post that day - I just thought of it straight away :-)

Looks like we are all being bashful with our make-overs lol or if you are anything like me I had to go hunting for some photos - I can't lay my hands on any of my digital ones right now - too hard to get too in a box I think under other boxes on top of a wardrobe!

So I have gone long long long ago lol - in fact all the way back to the year 1989 when I was 16 - I went through the I want to be a model phase - I spent a day having photos done with a professional photographer for the agency. He did my hair, make-up wardrobe decisions etc. Then we went out into the middle of Brisbane City and did the shoot for 2 of the outfits - it was such a blast and certainly a very 'godmother makeover' moment! And given the changes I have gone through since then - I can tell you I am so glad I have them to look back on haha! I came across them today when I was searching through albums for a photo from a party or something but just couldn't find a make-over memory that was as good as that. Now remember - don't judge the fashion too much! It was 1989! The quality may not be so good as I took a photo of the photo on my phone.

you look so pretty! Love the outfit and the pose is awesome too!

Weekly check-in:

Started the month at 208 and the goal was to lose 9 lbs. I weighed in at 203 this morning, so I'm at 56% of my goal. Considering I did not run at all this week, I'll take it!

Had a pretty busy weekend. We ended up winning our game Friday night 28-24. It was closer than it should have been. Yesterday my wife and I went car shopping and I got a new car! We got home just in time to watch college football and we went out to dinner with friends. Relaxing today - watching football and going to my parents for dinner.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

 CLUB 33 TRIP REPORT

Note: I've thumbnailed the images so they don't overwhelm your browser.

Hi Everyone -- I need to catch up on the thread, but first I wanted to post about how AMAZING Club 33 was. It was a truly magical experience and lives up to the hype of being outstanding. If you thought the Disney magic was impressive within the Parks and Hotels, Club 33 is that but on steroids. Let's put it this way, the answer to a question is "yes" - no matter what you ask. Everything is practically perfect with a hint of pixie dust! :P

We got there right at 130p and rang the doorbell, and were let into the little office/room thing to check in. Then you go into the patio area while you wait for your table to be ready and you enjoy a fresh cool towel for your hands and face, along with a glass of cucumber water to relax. We took some pictures on the staircase then proceeded into the dining area for our lunch.

14302539_10101392192272520_582406184_n.jpg

Look at how pristine the decor and ambiance is. It's very fashionable and elegant. I wish I could have seen it for dinner! We're in the back corner of the long view photo - so we had lots of windows to look out and a balcony to stand on. The other view is from our table.

Lunch: 4 course dining ($80) with a wine pairing ($50). You got to choose from a slew of menu items from the choices below:

14341457_10101392192492080_1421342436_n.jpg 14287720_10101392192482100_162165987_n.jpg

The food was so amazing and perfectly portioned. I have pictures of it, but I am limited on 10 photo uploads per post... so, had to cut these. I chose the mushroom appetizer, the "soup" which apparently had broth added after(?), the lamb... and they made me a special sorbet for dessert because all items had nuts and I'm allergic. :(

The ambiance of the place was so cool! We were right above Cafe Orleans and looked out over the Rivers of America / Tom Sawyer's Island. You could see the queue of "peasants" waiting for Pirates. It was a great people watching spot and we just enjoyed looking at all the finder details on the second story balconies of New Orleans square you typically don't get to see from down below.

Of course this can be too much to take in. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous and include a fainting couch if you just need a moment to collect yourself.

But in the end, I left all smiles and couldn't believe that this magical place exists. I am glad to have experienced this one, especially for my 33rd birthday. Our server, Matt, was a treat! Loved how attentive he was. In fact, my husband and I were all smiles for the rest of the day.

The End :)

I love today's question of the day because I was just thinking about this.... a year ago I did the Disneyland 5K and I could barely run it. It was a hard struggle and I felt like I was going to die by the end of mile 1. I was 173 pounds and just trying my hardest to get to 169.9 before my birthday. Now I'm at 138 pounds and it amazed me just how different the 35 pounds looked and felt on me. So then I thought: I should update my before and after photo and really see how much of a difference the last 2 years and 3 months have made on my life.

This is my Fairy Godmother moment - I feel so fabulous on the "right side" pic and I have no idea who the woman is in the "left side" pic. Like seriously, idek who that person is anymore. I appreciate this group for holding me accountable and for always encouraging me to be my best self. I am able to keep moving towards my exercise and healthy lifestyle goals because of all of you! :)

WOW WOW - Thank you for sharing your experience with us! Firstly let me say you look beautiful in that dress :-) So glad you both enjoyed the start of your celebrations for your birthday.

I am in awe of the determination and dedication you have shown to your lifestyle change to achieve all that you have done. I know I have said this before but you should just be so proud of yourself.

I hope you all had a good weekend – today we are visited by … The Villains!

Picture1.png

In every Princess story there is a Villain with their own agenda that inevitably creates problems our Princesses have to overcome. But … do you love a good villain? What can we learn from the Villains in the Princess’s lives? Sure they are ‘Evil’, narcissistic, arrogant, devious, even murderous. However, I think the Villains are very good at remaining focused on their goal, fighting the barriers in their way, never giving up, plotting, scheming, putting themselves first and using their powers for self-preservation (well until their ultimate demise haha). We are approaching the half way mark of the month this week – It’s time to let your inner villain out to help you achieve your goals!
QOTD: How good are you at being like a Disney Princess Villain when it comes to achieving your health goals?
What villainous traits do you need to put in place for the rest of the month to help you achieve your goal?
Bonus: Who is your favourite Disney Princess Villain?

I'm sorry I have been so bad at reporting in this month. I am at 70%. I am really surprised by that number since this is a rest week and I haven't been really watching what I have been eating either.

I don't think I have ever had a fairy godmother makeover moment. But maybe once I get to my goal weight it will happen!

I would not make a good Disney villain, I give up way too easily when it comes to my health goals. So for the rest of this month I am going to be Ambitious like a villian to achieve my goals. Nothing is going to stand in my way!

Ok I don't know why everyone's name didn't come out colourful - it was in the draft and when I go back into edit! If one of our more experienced hosts have any tips for that - I would appreciate it :-)
