Princess Phoebe's Pre-WISH-Trip Report (arriving in MK 4/17/10)

Wow! How cool is that thing?!! I've never seen anything like it, and when you mentioned it earlier, I had no idea of what to picture. That is so awesome that they make stuff like this for kids who need the extra help. It's obviously ergonomically perfect for where's she at!!!! NICE!!!

Wow that is sooooo cool! I hope it works out well for you guys!!! Whee your going this weekend! I can't wait to read the trip report!

Five days!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: I cannot believe you are so close. You started on here before I did didnt' you? Is the 'Fairy Godmother' the wish grantor???? (don't laugh if I'm wrong, I must've missed something). Ours didn't come until 2 days before we left either. Fewer days of temptation to run out and spend the expense check :rotfl2:

Yeah, a gait trainer is more supportive than a regular walker. We tried to find one that didn't offer so much support that she would get lazy and not use her own strength.

:woohoo: getting ready for Disney! :woohoo:

:rotfl: I remember telling people how excited I was to read the TR before they even left. Now it's my turn to be told!

So glad you've got your visit planned with the MAW people. :cool1: I can't believe you are going this week!!! :cheer2:

I almost don't believe it.

At least we don't have to meet them at the airport as we're boarding! I joined back in September. I think we just might have had the longest wait for a Disney wish, ever!!! That's okay. It gave me more time to meet more people and make more plans that won't happen. :lmao:

(and yes, at one point long ago we called the wish coordinator Phoebe's Fairy Godmother. Hadn't used the term in a long time because we haven't heard from her in a long time)

So I've been trying to get ADRs for Ohana's for quite some time now and not having any luck. I thought it might be nice to have a res for around 7:30 so we are finishing up as the fireworks get started. If the earplugs don't work and we have to ditch the fireworks in person, I thought it might be a nice alternative to see them from a distance. Apparently everyone else has that idea. I try in the early am, and other random times of day. Anyone have any ideas?
Can we go to the Poly and walk around even if we don't have a res? Can you see the fireworks from the beach?

Now that is one cool gait trainer! I have never seen anything like that before. It is nice and narrow but also gives her plenty of room.

You can preboard with Pheobe if you are taking her wheelchair up to the airplane. Then you can save seats for everyone else. Ty gets out of his wheelchair at the door. Then walks to the seat. They take it for us and we can get in and situated before the others start to board.

Yes, you can walk around the Poly, it's beautiful. I think you can see the fireworks from the beach and I think the music is piped in. I have never done it, but others have. You might check out the Poly thread on the resorts board if you have time.

5 days to go!!! Wooo Hooo!!!!

Just wanted to come by and say hello!! 5 days will go by fast as I'm sure you have plenty to do!

Hi Melissa, Im so glad I got back on here before you guys left. 5 more days!! You guys are going to have so much fun. Im off to try and get caught up.

We have ressies for Poly on Friday(?) the 23rd, but they're earlier - 5:30 I think. I made them way back when. Honestly, I would try the day of. Make sure that they know you are a wish family and see if they can accommodate you. I've heard of stranger things happening. Phoebe looks like she is cruising in the gait trainer - great pics!

We usually gate check her chair at the end of the ramp and carry her, but I think she's finally getting too big for that.

Thanks for finding that link. The pics are so beautiful, I think it would be fun to sit on the beach and watch. I just wonder if it gets a crowd there too?

This week is going to go so fast, it's so full!!!

Hey! We've missed you! I better add the latest updates to my table of contents.I wouldn't want you to miss anything. :lmao:

I have been offered some 9:00 ressies a couple of times, but I can't imagine the kids starting a meal at that time, even if we ate something earlier. I'd like to finish the evening there and then leave! :rolleyes1

Checking on the day of is a good idea....

I talked to customer service at SWA and ordered an aisle chair. She was super nice but it took her a while to complete the request so I'm a little worried that maybe she wasn't sure what she was doing?!? She said she put it in a couple of different places, just to make sure. Why does that instill more doubt than confidence?!?

I heard about someone making their stickers into buttons to pin on the kids and went to Office Max to try that, but they weren't real helpful. I decided instead to laminate the stickers so I will cut them out and use a safety pin to make my own buttons. They won't survive ten minutes as a regular sticker!

Okay, my crazy week goes like this:

Monday - babysit from 5am-2pm
(do more laundry, decide which clothes to pack)
hope DH doesn't take ALL night at the walk-in clinic (he has that bronchitis that I had, joy)

Tuesday - babysit from 5am-2pm
- teach preschool from 8-10am
- meet with Phoebe's county services coordinator at 12:30pm
(pack up carryons)

Wednesday - meet with tax guy to sign stuff at 10am
- take Tessa to ballet from 3:15 to 3:45pm
(check for cheaper car rentals for week 2)

Thursday - teach preschool from 8-10am
- meet wish granters at 6pm

Friday - panic
(hope to have completed three haircuts, a pedi, and last minute shopping for snacks, etc, arranged for airport transportation or parking, drop off dog and her stuff at friends', double check cameras, maps, books, stickers, etc, etc)

Saturday - leave home by 6am to be at airport by 6:20
- depart 7:50am
- fly all day, layover, wait, fly, etc, arrive in Orlando at 7pm (yawn)
- start having fun :rotfl2:

Yay! :cheer2: I just talked to Sally, Phoebe's "nanny", and she said she can come over any evening I need her this week. Usually my day is done when Phoebe gets home from school. I'm definitely asking her to come over on Friday when I'll be in panic mode!:rolleyes1

You can watch from the Polly beach. When you pull into the resort you can say you are going to eat at Kona or 'Ohana or you just want to check out the resort. You can sit right on the beach and have a perfect view with the music playing as well. I think it would be a great night. :)

Prayers that DH gets better quickly. No fun traveling when you are sick.

Call the Dining Line and tell them you are there with a wish child and if possible they will fit you in. My SIL did this at Chef Mickey's for my DN. She said as soon as they heard Wish Child, it made all the difference. Of course, I'm sure it depends on the CM you get.
