Princess Peanut's WISH Trip CWF/GKTW Pre-Trip Report! *We're HOME - Pg.37*

Keeping Peanut in my thoughts and prayers. Kylee just got a Port and now scared.
Dear Kris,
Try NOT to be scared of the port, they are a God-Send to save their veins! I would be thrilled if Lisa could have one; alas, she will never be able to because of her heart.

Dear Kristy,
You are weighing heavy on my heart for many reasons today.
I have spent too many Easter's with children in-pateint and it always seems to be a difficult holiday for me to be away from family.
Praying that you are surrounded with your family and that Peanut is improving DRASTICALLY.
We are all continuing to lift you up, I KNOW far more people are praying for you than posting. :hug::grouphug::hug:

Happy Easter. Hope Peanut is doing ok

I just want you to know I have been thinking about you and Peanut. I hope everything went well with the surgery and that she is recovering beautifully. :flower3:

Sunday night update...

Firstly, thank you for all the well wishes and good thoughts for not only Peanut, but our family too. :hug: to all of you.

Peanut had her surgery yesterday (Saturday) morning at about 830am. Things went well, it was longer then expected, but it went fairly smoothly. They had a few minor issues getting the line out, so in the end had to do two incisions. From what we can tell (which is a little difficult with the bandages), but it looks like the main incision is bigger this time, then the original one - which is frustrating. Apparently the surgeon doesn't care about scars on a little girl. :rolleyes:

They also nicked her throat while intubating her, so her throat has some swelling and is apparently very red. Her voice is raspy too. So they are applying lidocaine to numb her throat, and then having her drink some too - yuck, to coat her throat, as needed.

She was quite uncomfortable most of the day, between the surgery/incisions, her throat, the anesthetic making her quite irritable, and quite exhausted (and fighting off sleep), it made for quite a long day. She passed out cold within minutes at bedtime, poor thing.

She's also had some IV issues, which isn't a surprise, since her veins aren't the best (hence having the port in the first place), she had to have 3 separate lines placed within 24 hours. They kept blowing or collapsing. Frustrating. Since last night though, she has maintained the same IV line, which is great. *knock on wood*

They kept her on IV antibiotics after the surgery, and the plan is to remain on them for 48 hours. And then they'll switch her to an oral med (or through her feeding tube), for 7 days I think. BUT, late this afternoon today, she started spiking fevers. :rolleyes1 :sad2: So I have no idea what that means at this point. I just hope they were flukes, and that she remains fever free through the night.

I am so sad, and frustrated. First an unexpected surgery, then another holiday in the hospital, and now more fevers. With just days before her wish trip... And to think, within a month, she'll be heading back in to surgery for another port placement. Does it ever end? Seriously. :sad2: :sad1:

That's all I have for now. I'll update as I can. :goodvibes

PS. Happy Easter!!!! :flower3:

poor little Peanut...so hard to hear she had such a rough time with the surgery and recovery....
praying so hard they can get her infection under control and hope she will have a more comfortable night...

lots of :hug::hug::hug:
and :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:
and prayers for you all!

I am so sorry she has to deal with all this. Praying the fever is just a after effect of the surgery. Huge huge hugs and prayers coming her way :hug:

God Bless you Kristy, you have every right to feel so frustrated and tired for your sweet precious darling hurting. (((HUGS))) to you and please know that the prayers WILL continue and I do hope that the fevers STOP, so the meds can be given orally. As for scars...Lisa says she is proud of each and everyone, it shows she is a warrior...I used to worry about them when she was so tiny and she was only 2 weeks old...I would design bathing suits in my head to hide them..now she wears the scars with pride (and has a TON of them, far more than she had as an infant). I am sure Peanut doesn't let them bother her either...it just hurts our Mommy hearts! :hug::grouphug::hug:

Saying parayers for you guys I hope she doesnt run any fever I know that was our biggest issues for morgan I still would love to get to meet up with yall on the trip i am going to be positive because I know she is going to get to make her trip. Peanut is a fighter and I have so much respect for her. Prayers and best wishes for the little trooper and all of you.

Sorry the surgery and recovery was a little rougher than anticipated. Hopefully by today Peanut will be feeling better. I think she needs to be in reverse isolation to help prevent anymore infections and fevers. This girl needs to get healthy! Hoping for a much better day today and smooth sailing.

Just a short note to let you know you and your family are never far from my thoughts.

I'm praying she recovers very quickly and you have a wonderful trip! :hug:

Peanut had more blood drawn today for blood cultures, it will take 48 hours to get the results. Poor sweetheart has had FOUR IV's go bad in just a few days and so many more pokes as they tried to find a vein. The hope and plan at this moment is actually POSSIBLE discharge today (she still has fever and is MISERABLE; however there isn't a lot they can actually do for her at the hospital) , then Peanut will see her doctor both tomorrow and Thursday and if all goes well on oral antibiotics....Drum Roll Please... (per the doctor) the TRIP DEPARTURE ON FRIDAY WILL HAPPEN...you read that right, hopefully the trip will go as planned!!! She wants to let everyone know HOW MUCH she appreciates all of your kindness and love you have shown to her and her family.

thanks for letting us know Judy!

will be praying hard that Peanut feels up to the trip....know that the magic will help her so much....as it will the family too!

:::hugs::: I am happy to hear the port is out and I hope to hear the fevers are down soon. It's wonderful to hear that the wish trip will still go on!! Sounds like a vacation and some family time is definitely needed right now.

Thnaks for updating Judy. I will definatley be praying that Peanut feels better soon and that the trip is a magical time for Peanut and her family to rest and recharge.

Thanks for posting Judy! Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the fever goes away -- Peanut doesn't need to go to Disney feeling miserable.

It was my pleasure ladies to give an update. I have NOT heard back from Kristy since early afternoon; however, I am hoping that means they DID get to go home. It really sounded as if that was going to happen barring anything really wild or out of the ordinary. If I hear anything else I will update! :goodvibes I know going home would be the best medicine for Peanut...and the ENTIRE family! :goodvibes

Kristy, keeping the prayers coming! :hug::hug::hug:
