Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2025 (Feb 20-24 2025)

How many guests/runners are in your party?

We typically stay at BLT for Princess Weekend. I personally love the kitchenette with all that space to store snacks. And the sky bridge makes it so convenient to catch the monorail for the half as well as grab food at Contempo/fill our waters. I will say we had the worst bus trauma we’ve ever had for the 10k this past February leaving from the Contemporary.

VGF is another fine choice depending on whether you have a deluxe studio booked or a resort studio? The deluxe studios have the extra shower which helps if you have multiple runners. I don’t like the kitchenette as much in the deluxe studios and the resort studios only have a beverage cooler instead of fridge if that matters to you. Our bus experience from VGF for shorter races has overall been better…

All that said, we’ve opted to bank our BLT points and avoid staying there during the refurb. We’ll be at one of our other WDW home resorts for Princess 2025. Between VGF and BLT though, I would likely still choose BLT as it’s my preferred of the two. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will be the only runner so shower facilities won't be an issue. I do like the kitchenette at BLT.

I assume if you use that rate, they will verify that you are a Disney passholder when you check in. Is that correct?

I have always been asked to show my AP at Dolphin when using that rate

The only “offical” USATF time I have is wine and dine 10k, at about 1:53 minutes

Based on recent past experiences, the USATF part doesn't matter for POT. Just an officially time races with online results is good enough.

We always stay at the Dolphin for race weekends. The busses are rarely crowded and we got a super AP rate.

Does the Dolphin have their own buses? Or do they share buses with other resorts like Boardwalk or Beach Club? I've stayed at the Swan and Dolphin before but we only used the Minnie Van or walked to the parks.

Yes, they have their own buses for MK and AK. However, the bus for MK drops you off and picks you up at the TTC, NOT in the same bus loop in front of the park that Disney resort buses use. We usually just walk over to Boardwalk and use their bus for MK days.

Thanks for the response! I thought had done more 10ks, but apparently I only ever do them at Disney . That 1:53 is my best time!

That sounds like me and 5Ks. I hate 5Ks and almost never do them outside of Disney. When I looked at my "PR" in the 5K, it was almost laughable.

(I have since done a couple of local 5Ks and now have a respectable - for me - PR in the 5K. But I still hate them.)

Based on the calculation runDisney appears to use, if you submit a 1:53:00 10k for POT for the Princess HM, then that coverts to a 4:09 HM. So you would be placed in the last corral (3:01-3:30) if you submit that.

If you choose an estimate of 2:30-2:45 or 2:45-3:00, then you will likely be slotted ahead of submitting that POT.

If you have a 10 miler, HM, or M POT, those are also potential options.

I am running both January weekend and Princess weekend but assuming that princess weekend will have more of the princess stuff, right? Or can I expect to find all of that during the expo in January? Trying to plan ahead to see if I can pick up stuff sooner than Feb. Thank you.

I got my charity link and I signed up this morning. First time I've needed to put in a proof of time since 2014. I've been doing the 10K races and they don't take POT. At least I was still able to use my PR before that window closes.

Sparkle also usually offers expo pickup for a small fee if you want to ensure you get what you’re looking for.

I have found that many of the vendors overlap the different weekends.

I don’t remember the race being that hot. It was 63 degrees around starting time, dropped to 61, and then rose to 66 at sunrise. I just remember the race being really humid, which the weather reports list at 99%. My experience also was completely different. No bus issues, and this ended up being one of my best races ever, where I placed 2nd in my division for the 10k, top 20 overall, and 3rd in my division in the half.

I was sweating from the moment I got into line at the Beach Club and I wasn't alone. My Floridan cousin was cold of course. But the heat issues were happening later, which is why they couldn't delay the start by more than 15 minutes (when we at BC had been waiting well over an hour). By the time brought in the buses at mile 9 it was downright hot, albeit not as hot as it has previously been.

So glad you weren't staying at a problematic resort, that you hadn't been sick the month before, and that you did well!!!

I am a DVC member and booked Baylake and the Grand Floridian for the princess half and was hoping I would get in. So happy I was able to register and now deciding which reservation to keep. Which one would you keep and why? BTW, Baylake is going to be going through a referb, but I would be up for the races before the construction nose began for the day awyway.

The longer estimate, absolutely.

I have never noticed a big difference at the other events.

One vendor has closed entirely, fluffy fizzies, and I will be very sad to not see them at the expo. They had great glitter lipgloss. But there are others out there.
