Good morning everyone,

We'll be going to Disney in October and I would like to buy my little girl a princess dress to wear one day when we're there.

Our disney store here in Ottawa closed a while ago and I was wondering if there is anywhere else that sells them??

I know I can order it online from disney.com but I figure that'll be so expensive with shipping that it's better to just buy it at downtown disney once we get there.

but does anyone know if any stores around Ottawa that sells them so I can get it before we leave?

Thanks!

I expect that quality could be a concern but Wal Mart and Zellers both sell princess dresses all year long. You could also wait till September when Halloween costumes come out. There is usually a very large selection at that time of year. Otherwise, if you find a picture and know of a good seamstress in your area you could have one made.

Hope this helps

I got one from ebay for DD last Christmas (new with tags) and I just ordered her a gently used Minnie dress from ebay as well.

Toys R Us was my first suggestion.

At our Liquidation World I picked up the Disney Princess Dress Up Trunk for $7, it was a steal I though. It is the cheaper little dress up costumes but I think it'll do for our 2 year old!

You could try kijiji in your area and see if anything comes up.

We live near Kingston, and Costco has their Halloween costumes out. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and tinkerbell were all available when I was their on Thursday.

I'd echo the Costco suggestion, just saw a whole variety and lots of sizes...didn't check the prices, though. They looked so pretty, but I have a boy so no reason to check them out, sigh...

If you can get a sale at the Disney store online, you can have it shipped and waiting for you at your resort. I got a Tink costume on clearance for my niece a few years ago and had it waiting for us...a nice little welcome gift. Also bought a few other trinkets on clearance, which saved buying souveniers. You can include the value in your customs exemption coming home, so save money on tax and duty that way, besides the shipping costs.

That said, I saw Snow White and Cinderella at Wal-Mart the other day...boxed with accessories. Also saw a couple of gorgeous ones at Costco, as someone said, though the details are different enough not to infringe Disney copyright! (That only matters if your little one is old enough to notice/care...) DD has worn Disney store AND Wal-Mart at WDW, and honestly, she doesn't care how much it cost...for long-term dress up use the Walmart ones aren't as good, but yeesh, who's gonna notice??

Good luck, she'll have so much fun! Dd always gets addressed as Princess Whomever (and she always corrects them :lmao:), which made her day. :goodvibes

Thank you all so much for your helpful suggestions. I'll definitely check them all out and I'm sure I'll find something great for her to wear w/o spending a fortune!

That's why I love these boards!

looking up disney princess on etsy dot com... :O)

I have one more suggestion since you seem to live in the Ottawa area... I recently bought this dress for my daughter from Tag Along Toys in Kanata:

http://www.tagalongtoys.ca/fairytale-princesses-p111.html

I liked the fact that it was reversible and size adjustable (fits like a pinafore). I will be surprising her with it when we go to WDW in September. :)

At the time, I believe that they had other (non-reversible, non-pinafore) princess dresses as well.

We're doing the Pirates League this year with both kids. I've seen some great online shops, and Party Packagers will have their costumes out soon for Halloween, but part of the magic for us is letting the kids pick out their costumes (or princess dress) at the park while we're there. I know it's more expensive, but at least this way you also have less to pack (going anyways, not coming back! :rotfl2:)
