I was talking to someone about this and she said it was unecessary to have my girls do this because after breakfast who is going to lug around the costumes? At this point, we are looking to rent a car and my husband doesn't mind returning the car to load them in. My girls are girlie girls and I know they would love the idea of dressing up like Princesses and actually having breakfast with their favorite Princesses.

Do you think this is cheesy to do or do people do this all the time? I have my heart set on getting a PS for CRT and I want to make this a wonderful experience for us (the guys are not going).

My daughters wear their princess dresses for CRT, PSB and 1900 Park Fare. For Chef Mickeys they were Minnie Dresses and ds wears a Mickey costumes. I just bring a bag and put the dresses back in the stroller after breakfast. They wear a short set or sundress underneath the costumes. We've never had any problem. We always leave half day to go back to GF to swim and nap. If you are going to be there all day you might want to put the dresses in the lockers. Many girls are in their princess costumes at these meals so your dds might feel left out if they don't wear them.

Go ahead and do it! Many girls wear their favorite princess dress to the princess meals!

We've done it a few times. We usually just have them wear their clothes underneath and take the dress off afterwards or change in the bathroom afterwards. We have a stroller and put the dresses in that. They're only young once and it can make the meal more magical so go for it!

Here's a picture of my girls and their cousin at CRT:

My girls are real girlie girls too and would never want to go to a Princess breakfast without wearing their dresses. We just have them change afterwards. Hey, they're only little once!!!

My daughter is going to wear hers(first I have to get the ressie and the dress). I am afraid she would be upset if.others were and she was not.

So just nod and agree with the naysayers!! Then do what makes your family happy, what works for YOUR family!! My dd8 didnt the first time, and while we did what we could, I could tell she wanted the dress (she lovingly touched the dresses, and debated spending all her money on one dress!) We bought her a crown, she bought a light up wand, and she had a Princess tshirt... that was last year... this year I'm going to buy her her dress online, I'm going to rent a locker as soon as we get there, then if she gets tired of wearing her dress I'll have a locker to put it in if need be, or maybe I'll just bring a 'space' type bag to roll up ... I havent decided yet!! I do know we'll have a dress!! :)

I would bring the dresses! You can always stick them in the stroller. We do CRT and the norway princess (in Epcot) breakfast every trip and DH and my sons go with me and our daughter. There are lots of brothers in there! In Dec my sons will be 7 and 9 and are going to both again. They just eat the food! Although last trip they did want a picture with Jasmine. :)
We also do the Ak character breakfast and the Cape May Cafe character breakfast at the Beach club. My boys really, really like both of these breakfasts. In fact, since we always stay at an Epcot resort we usually eat breakfast at Cape May twice in a trip. :flower:

Snow White, Pooh, and Aurora. We also had a beautiful Ariel costume on hand, but didn't take the time to dress her in it when we went to Ariel's grotto in the MK. She is definetly a girlie girl, and gets upset when I want to take her costume off. I usually carry a shorts set in a ziploc in her diaper bag, and fold up the costume into the ziploc after our character meal. On her first trip at a year old, we brought the entire costumes, including the shoes, crowns, and wands for each costume. I learned to leave the wands and shoes home on the following trip. I plan on bringing all her costumes this year, and let her wear them when she wants, as long as I have a change of clothes on hand. A lot of girls dress up for the princess meals. I didn't see as many dress up at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace.

yes go ahead and do it, my dd did it in november and cindy made loads of nice comments and made her day

You know your girls best and if they want to dress up go for it. My DD is a girly girl too however she has never wanted to wear a princess dress to CRT, we've gone twice and will be going again in May and also going to the My Princess Tea AT GF and she wants to wear a cute sundress but no costume(sigh).

I'd say both times we have been to CRT about 1/2 the girls are in costume and 1/2 are not. It really is a personal decision. MY DD has never felt out of place or left out because she is not in a costume though I'd love to get pics of her with the Princesses with one of her costumes on (she has Tink and Cindy) she has never wanted to wear them there. So if your girls want to dress up - have fun , if not they will not feel out of place. Enjoy!

My girls are going to want to wear their dresses. They already have dresses that we got them for Xmas with the shoes and the accessories so they are set. I'll take the advice of leaving the accessories at home, but the tiaras are a nice touch so I'll take those.

Mark asks if the Prince will be there? If so, then he's coming along. LOL

Thank you all for the replies!

We compromosed - my DD wore a velvet dress with Cinderella embroidered on the bodice. She got lots of compliments from the princesses, and it was comfy enough to wear for the rest of the day (a cool December day). I'd say less than half the kids were actually in costume the time we were there. But if you already have the costumes and you know your girls will want to dress up, I'd just rent lockers at the MK and let them change after the event.

Bring your husband. I'm over 30 and I had ZERO hesitation about getting my picture taken with Cinderella. Just to see the expressions on my daughter's face was well worth the price.

If your girls want to wear the dresses, they'll be sad if they don't and see several other kids wearing theirs. Based on our 2 times there, I'd say about half the girls wear dresses.

Also, I'm not sure what the weather is like when you go, but my DD4 wore her Cinderella dress all day even though we brought a change of clothes.... plus, she got lots of extra attention from CMs.

I may get flamed for this, but I think wearing the princess dresses is cheesy. I know a lot of little girls do it, but I just dress my DD in a princess t-shirt. I wouldn't want to lug the costumes around or have to take them back to the car or a locker. I save the costumes for Halloween and playing dress-up at home.

My girls are going to want to dress up so I'll let them bring their costumes and it will be Halloween day anyway when we go anyway. :) Thank you for all of your replies.

I agree to go for it and let them dress as princesses if they want! We'll be doing it next week with DD 2 & DD5!!!! It's such a magical time so have fun! I certainly don't mind a little inconvenience with the dresses and the girls look absolutely beautiful dressed up!

I did something sort of in between. I made smocked clothing for my daughter in the style of some of the Disney characters. Still quite festive, but more practical for parks.

My DD loves to wear her Cinderella dress to the breakfast. Don't assume they will want to shed those dresses right after they eat either. A couple of years ago DD wanted to keep her dress on and it was a hot June day! We had a change, but she wore the dress the rest of the day and LOVED all the attention she got from the CMs other characters too. Have fun!!

My dd4 and dd6 talked me into letting them wear their princess dresses and minnie dresses and it worked out fine. :) They just changed when they became to hot and the dresses went into a locker or our backpack. :) Have fun!

Cadence, your girls will LOVE CRT! And since you are going in Oct it may be cool enough for them to wear their costumes through out the day. They will have so much fun.

We have only seen princesses at CRT but I have read reports of some people seeing the Prince and Peter Pan at CRT Bfast. So maybe Mark will want to go - LOL
