I want to change my ADR for 3 to 4 people and I want some advice prior to calling...I have to think there are no triangular tables  and that a table for 3 would accommodate 4 people. Opinions, please...is this going to cause difficulty for me? TIA

Funny :) Thanks for the laugh:rotfl: I'm kind of curious too b/c we are a party of 5 but may be joined last minute by my father-in-law and didn't know it that would ruin all my great ADRs for party of 5.

Which princess breakfast? If I'm remembering correctly there are smaller table at CRT and so there may be an issue there. I would try calling now but keep your current ADR if they cannot add the 4th. I did try to change a 3 person ADR at California Grill to 4 people and was told they couldn't do it. I canceled my reservation with her, hung up and immediately checked on-line. I was able to book a 4 person reservation that wasn't there 10 minutes before.

ADR is for Akershus...interesting experience you had with the dining...have you been at Akershus previously and would you speculate for me? TIA!!

The only thing with Akershus is the credit card guarantee. Would they still charge for the extra person because you said there would be 3 instead of 4? We've eaten there a few times but haven't had this particular issue. Hang in there and someone else might have the answer for you. From experience on here, you may get several different answers because it depends on the situation and most of all the CM. Sorry I couldn't help.

Good question on the CC...no charge so far and wouldn't be one eventually because we are on the DDP...I will wait for more advice!!!

We have been to Akershus a few times and like it so much better than the castle!! From a table perspective I don't believe they have tables for 3 at Akershus so I don't think that would be a problem. Now, whether there is an issue with restaurant capacity at the time and they cannot allow someone else may be an entirely different situation. I would call and see what they can do but I wouldn't cancel just yet. I would try a few different CMs at different times and see if someone allows you to add one person. If none of that works you can always try what I did at California Grill but I had the website up and ready to go when I canceled on the phone and I was prepared to lose the reservation entirely if it hadn't worked out the way it had!

Thanks for your advice...I'm not prepared to lose the reservation, however I'm heartened to hear that there may be no tables of three.

I did talk to an ADR CM tonight and she was unable to adjust the reservation and couldn't really give any info on how things worked (ie. system changes, etc...) and I asked a lot of questions and put forth a few scenarios. I thought I would call the restaurant directly but she could not give me a telephone number.

Our ADR is the first of the day at 8 a.m.; I'm going to keep trying in the next couple of weeks but I'm starting to wonder if we arrived with one extra child whether they would just allow it. Opinions on this tactic?

I know some people will say you risk the chance of one being turned away but I really think that this restaurant (and being an 8 am ADR) there is a good chance they will seat all 4 of you. I would keep trying to change the reservation but if it doesn't work I wouldn't sweat it. I would just show up with a party of 4. Going from 3 to 4 is probably the easiest to accommodate. Good Luck!!

Just make sure that when you call the CM is clear that you don't want to cancel and if they tell you they need to cancel and make a new ressie then ask them to make the new ressie first.
I don't think you'll have a problem.

Well, hate to be the bearer of bad news about the tables, but last summer at Akershus we were at a table that would only seat 3 - it was square but one side up against the wall. All the tables along that row were the same way. However, I have walked up with an extra person and been seated (not @ Akershus though) I would think your chances are pretty good if you show up with only one extra person. My experience in general has been that the CMs at the podium are as accommodating as they can possibly be.

Their system allows for so many groups of 2,3,4 etc. even though the table size may be the same....group of 3 or 4 are seated at a table for 4.

I have seen recently that people are regularly getting turned away when they show up with a larger party than they booked for. This being due to restaurant capacity (fire regulations). The online system has allowed people to book anything that they find. So groups of 4 are booking tables for 3 or whatever because that's what is showing as available.

So I guess that you should book for that extra person even if they are not certain they will attend the meal.

Well, I spoke to the podium at Akershus and they have assured me that there will be no problem...I quote "I am 100% certain that there will be no problem arriving with an extra child" and thereby having "four in your party instead of three." I noted the name of the person I spoke to and the date and time and I feel much more confident that there will be no issues! She did say that the 3 to 4 would be easy to resolve but if it had been 2 to 3 or 4 to 5 it wouldn't have flown...anyhoo all, thanks for your advice and comments.

Glad I got a great CM who put me through to Akershus after suggesting that the restaurant might be cooperative. The CM I spoke to on my prior call would not give me a number for the restaurant...persistence paid off, this time!
