Prince Charmsalot to Accompany the Damsels This Trip But You Must Pose w/ Princesses

Artists Point is on our must do list every trip along with Crystal Palace for breakfast. It's my son's favorite. Enjoy!

Yay Artist Point!!!! Excellent choice!! :thumbsup2 The berry cobbler was one of my all-time favorite Disney desserts!

I must say, the Northwest focused wine list is fabulous as well.

Love Artist Point - great choice :thumbsup2

My tip, arrive early and have a nice pre-dinner cocktail in the Territory Lounge :goodvibes

Love the tip Linda! I saw your honorary Masters in Margarita title that was bestowed upon you - a very high honor indeed!! :rotfl:

Love that idea ...we usually do the same thing.

See.. it is endorsed by you too! ;) I think I've actually sat in the lounge the first time we went while waiting for a table - but it was a brief wait and no cocktail was involved so I must have a do over!

Yay Artist Point!!!! Excellent choice!! :thumbsup2 The berry cobbler was one of my all-time favorite Disney desserts!

I saw that in your review... Ahhh it does look amazing. For those wanting a preview of AP and what I fully expect from this place, here's Wingnut's AP review

Artist Point looks great! It's definitely on my "one day" list!

So many wonderful choices there.... one day will come soon enough! :)

Yay for Artist's Point! So jealous.

Ha! You are leaving soon for your trip. :woohoo: You will be leaving BLT when we are arriving! I read briefly your PTR but considering it is midnight and I need to get my butt into work by lets say 8am I will come back later to read more!

I love the puffed french toast at CP!! AP has so many great choices for their food but I like that decor and theming of the WL.

Hi there! I'm so used to CA reds that I will definitely need to expand my horizons. :yay:

8am?! That's awful. But yes, come join the PTR! I'm so excited for BLT, I love the decor and accessibility.

Pretty good Pinot's but I'm still more of a Santa Barbara Pinot guy myself.

Yay for Artist Point! I hope you all have an awesome meal there - as you know, it's one of my favorites, and while I don't regret skipping it earlier this month, I'm starting to experience "withdrawal" (which your review will help cure). :goodvibes

Uhhh... don't tell anyone but I think I got into the office at 8:30. :ssst:
I'm coming over to read more now.... been busy working lately! Gosh - stupid work interferes with my trip planning time. :guilty:

Pretty good Pinot's but I'm still more of a Santa Barbara Pinot guy myself.

I'm not picky but I do like Sonoma and Napa vineyards. Maybe because I've done wine tours up there. Thansk for the Pinot suggestion.

I forgot to mention this before but I love your Disneyland pictures! I am so jealous! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures.

Oh thanks! (Not for the jealous part but the photo part!!) :lmao:

Like I've said... you hold such power over me!! Last time we went we barely experienced it since we only got appetizers/salad. This time DH will be with us and he is a confirmed meat eater so hopefully, we'll see some new dishes to review.

I see your "withdrawal" may be short lived! :rotfl:

Looking once again at our ADRs (what's new - it is a hobby right?) I was looking at places that we HAVEN'T tried - there are so many. Biergarten popped up on my radar and I had a flashback followed by a pang of guilt!! :guilty:

During our the last WDW trip as a family (well, family minus our 3 sons) in 2006, we had a little.... uh disagreement over where to dine for lunch one day.

First a little background.... As much of a planner as I may be, I had no clue about ADRs in 2006. Heck, I didn't even know that the Disboards existed otherwise, I may have had a clue.

So...we were ignorantly, well maybe more like innocently touring WS in EPCOT and came to Germany about the time we decided that we were really hungry! Michael suggested Biergarten. I agreed since I didn't have a better suggestion and we were hungry. We got a pager and were told it would be a wait.... a long wait... like 45 minutes! Uh... that's not working for me. I looked at the menu and decided that I didn't want to wait 45 minutes for bratwurst.

After deliberating for a minute or two we (by we, I think I really mean just Brenda) decided to go elsewhere. Michael wasn't too thrilled to turn in the pager but I assured him that we could go elsewhere and not have to wait that long. Uhhh yeah.....We walked to China (pass), Norway (no clue there was a restaurant here), then to Mexico. Let's try San Angel Inn. We go up to the podium and request seating for a party of 3 and they asked if we had a reservation. No. Sorry.... Ok moving on. It was about this time that Michael was getting a little miffed with me. We could have been seated at Biergarten he reminded me. I know, my bad!

We had reached the end of WS and proceeded to FW and found Electric Umbrella at the same time that it started to rain really hard. We settled for EU. Yeah... not my favorite but it was food.

So somebody owes somebody else Biergarten! Yeah... I reminded Michael that I owe him Biergarten and he responded that that ship has sailed - 6 years ago!!! :rolleyes1 Apparently he is over it. (And yes, I did beg forgiveness for forcing him to give up Biergarten for Electric Umbrella!)

I came across some food photos that I took on this trip. These are from Brown Derby:

Family photo - I resized this but it is still showing as gigantor! Once I post this I hope it reverts to my preset size.

Creme brulee - this is where my WDW creme brulee love affair began!!

You think I will say "no" next time Michael asks to eat somewhere at WDW? Heck no! I'll let you know how that goes. :upsidedow

Hmm, Electric Umbrella instead of an ADR in world showcase
Bet you're glad you found the DIS right :rolleyes1

I really wana try Biergarten! But won't this trip...too bad you passed it up then, but I hear it's very loud and crowded.

When are we going?

Our travel dates changed a few times… we went from the original 6 nites to 11 nights as a girl only trip, to 10 nites as a family to finally, 12 nights. We will arrive Sat. 8/18 and stay until Thurs. 8/30.
For this trip I booked a 2 bedroom Lake View room for 8 nights. Because there have not been any significant AP discounts for our travel dates we booked with the room only discount which equaled a whopping 5% for our room type. :crazy2:

We are checking out of BLT on Aug 18th. 2 bedroom LV. Wonder if you will get our room:)

It's our first stay there, and we are really looking forward to it. Also looking forward to the change in pace when we move to SSR.

Artist Point is on my wishlist and I'm glad you're going. On a sidenote, isn't it fun to shuffle around and rearrange ADRs? :yay:

Cocktail hour was a little more traditional:

Note: I adore cheese and accoutrements! Jabead would have been proud of this spread. The presentation isn't the best since I just piled this on my plate but the honeycomb with the bleu cheese was actually very nice!:upsidedow

Wow, how did I let myself get so far behind on your PTR, Brenda??? I just read through at least 5 pages of posts to get caught up. :lmao:

And yes, that fruit and cheese spread looks wonderful! You know, we had so many cheese plates (and of course I always had the bleu cheese all to myself ;)), that I didn't think I'd be wanting any more for quite awhile. Well, seeing yours has now made me crave it again. We are going to a wedding tonight and I sure hope they serve cheese at the reception...and more specifically, the moldy kind (as my children always call it).

And I was happy to hear that you are now going to Artist Point. I really enjoyed my dinner there. I'll leave the details for my upcoming review, but for me it was a nearly perfect "Peter Pan". ;) But you definitely still need to make a stop in Mexico for an avocado margarita, whether it's at San Angel Inn (along with some chicken tostadas) or at La Cava. :thumbsup2

Brenda, How is the shopping? You only have about three weeks to go. I cant wait to read more. When does Emily start school? My children go back to school Aug. 8th:sad1: Does not seem like they have enough summer anymore.

Just found your TR and I am so glad I did! You have so many fantastic posts already and the main TR hasn't even started!

He’s the type of guy who would rather go on a fishing trip or camp than go to WDW. (Yes, I knew this when I married him oh so long ago but I thought I could change him. Ladies, you know how that goes!)
I guess I'm one of the weird males here on the DISboards (Yes, I know I opened myself up to numerous comments with that statement :lmao:). In our household, I am the Disney nut and planner. The rest of the family love Disney too but their involvement with the planning is to pick among the selections I give them whether it is ADR's or which theme park to visit that day. I'm not complaining but I've noticed on the DISboards that it is mainly the females that do most of the planning and the males quite often are dragged into coming along. :sad2:

I have cautioned DH that I like characters, and I like photos with characters, and if you go with us, you may need to pose with a princess or two. His reply, “I could pose with that Jasmine girl and see if she has a belly piercing.” He’s such a man! And that my friends is how the title of this PTR was born.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with DH's plans...er...comment! :cool1:

Since I hang out a lot on the Dis dining boards and have completed 3 dining reviews thus far, (see signature for all manner of food, snacks, and other edibles) you will not be surprised to learn that we have over 30 ADRs booked for our 13 day stay! :scared1: We will try some new places, revisit some favorites, and I am looking forward to our first Wishes Dessert party. We have a TiW card which will give us the food and beverage (including cocktails ::yes::) discount of 18%.
I've read your previous TR's so I know this one will be great as well! :thumbsup2
I don't know what to envy the most, 30 ADRs or 13 day stay! We did the Wishes Dessert party 2 years ago and it was great. You cannot beat the location to watch Wishes and the desserts beforehand are great. Don't miss Tink flying right over the top of where you are sitting to begin Wishes!
Gotta love TIW...never DDP for us again!

What did I say in my original dining line up DH would really like?

One of our favorites due to the smokey portabello soup.....

DSC09961.jpg

Yes, Artists Point!!! :lovestruc

I think Michael will love this place and Em was pretty happy to see it find its way back into our dining line up. :thumbsup2
DW and I ate at AP for the first time when we stayed at VWL a few months ago. It was absolutely fantastic. I had the buffalo tenderloin and DW had the Copper River salmon...OMG!!! And as much as we loved their signature dessert, the AP cobbler, they had one of the best creme brulee desserts we have had anywhere! I'm sure DH will love AP!

I really looking forward to the rest of your TR!

YES, Quite glad! :)

Hahaha I'm very happy to have found the Dis as well! :grouphug:
It's experts like you who make a diffence here! :thumbsup2

I really wana try Biergarten! But won't this trip...too bad you passed it up then, but I hear it's very loud and crowded.

I don't mind the crowds or even sharing a table but if the food is not good then it could ruin the experience. I hope to try it one day! :)

It's our first stay there, and we are really looking forward to it. Also looking forward to the change in pace when we move to SSR.

Hmmm perhaps! Enjoy your stay there!! And how nice to split your stay at another cool DVC property. I love that SSR is within walking distance to DTD.

Artist Point is on my wishlist and I'm glad you're going. On a sidenote, isn't it fun to shuffle around and rearrange ADRs?

Thanks! Yes, ADR shuffling can become obsessive. :sad2: I drive my family crazy asking if they care if we swap x for y...

Barb I thought of you when I indulged in my cheese plate goodness! :goodvibes I LOVE the moldy kind so much but so does my family so I have to be nice and share! Did a cheese tray find it's way into the wedding reception?

My Mexico drool list is growing beyond the avocado margarita and empanadas to the all the other lovely choices. Yum!

Can't wait for your AP review. :flower3:

Brenda, How is the shopping? You only have about three weeks to go. I cant wait to read more. When does Emily start school? My children go back to school Aug. 8th:sad1: Does not seem like they have enough summer anymore.

You paid attention and know me so well!! As a matter of fact.... Em and I went to Forever 21 yesterday. I should do a separate post just to show our newest acquisitions. :rotfl2:

Em's school starts after Labor Day so we'll have a little time after our trip to relax before it is back to the grind. :)

Just found your TR and I am so glad I did! You have so many fantastic posts already and the main TR hasn't even started!

Hi Bill! I'm so glad you found me!!!

I think it is awesome for a guy to pay attention to the planning aspect of these trips and of course, you can appreciate all of the work that it take to plan such a great trip!!

I see absolutely nothing wrong with DH's plans...er...comment! :cool1:

Ok, I'll say to you what I said to my DH - such a guy!! :lmao:
I've read your previous TR's so I know this one will be great as well! :thumbsup2

I had to go back to your 2010 review and read about the dessert party. I wonder if they still offer AP discounts?? Or is it only DVC?? If so, I should call and find out. It's only $12 but heck that's a cocktail!

Em loved the bison tenderloin too!! I'm looking forward to trying something new too. Now the dessert selections look wonderful - I'll have to leave room for that! (or box something up to have later.)

I really looking forward to the rest of your TR!
Thanks!

I have no idea how I got so far behind on your PTR. :confused3

We are trying Biergarten on our upcoming trip. DH wants to try it also. DS is very, very picky about what he eats. I'm half expecting him to eat there and then when we leave ask to go to the American showcase and ask for chicken fingers. LOL!! :lmao:

I want to try Artist Point. It looks and sounds yummy from everything that I've read. I'm totally jealous on that one!! LOL!!

Loving all of your plans so far!!
