As I mentioned before, I'm trying to decide if I can afford a Disney wedding. I was creeping on some posts and read that the pricing on Wish Book is not accurate... How close is it? Also, how much does pricing change from year to year (I wouldnt be getting married until 2009)

Thanks!

the wishbook sucks because everything and i mean everything that you get from disney has a 20% service charge that is not added in when you use the wishbook.

The Wishbook is definitely not the best guide, because there are so many options not available in it, so many ways that you can add or subtract $, and as Amanda mentions, tax and tip aren't included. The best way to see if you can afford the Disney wedding is to figure out the minimum for your date and time. If you want a small wedding (under 20 people), the price isn't bad, and a larger ceremony starts at $10K. The Wishbook does give the minimums, I think. Many of the brides on here have been able to keep it around the min, not counting attire, lodging, or transportation to the park. If you can afford any of the minimums, than you should be ok.

One of the reasons we say the Wishbook isn't accurate is that there are SO many more options than are listed on it. So I'd say that the prices may be ballpark figures, but when you start doing your planning with Disney, you'll discover a bunch of other choices with different prices.

I really wanted to be able price out a DFTW before I committed, so I used prices posted on these boards to work up a budget. If you do a search for threads about BEOs, there are a few where people have posted breakdowns of their entire budget - soooo helpful!

:thumbsup2

I Agree With What Everyone Else Says, Don't Go By Wishbook, Once You Sit Down With A Consultant Their Are Sooo Many Other Options, And You Can Negotiate Things Also, But Remember That 20% It Is Very Easy To Stay Within Your Minimumso Figure Out A Date And Look At The Minimum For It, That Will Give You And Idea. Best Wishes, I Looked Around In My Home Town And It Would Have Cost More To Get Married There, Plus A Major Headache Trying To Do Everything Yourself, Disney Handles Everything. It Is A Great Way To Get Married!

Read Other Pj's And Get Ideas From Us, Lurkyloo Did Wonderful At Staying Right At Her Minimum I Think She Went Over By Like $60 She Is An Inspiration I Really Didn't Go That Much Over Either, It Is Easy To Keep At Minimum, Just Dont' Forget Disney Does Not Include Dress, Tux, Invites They Do Give You Save The Dates Though!!!

On my budget, only food and drink have the automatic 20%, but there are other service charges, including to move flowers from the ceremony to the reception, to set up chairs (if you rent them), and to put out favors (if more than three things on a table). But there is a 6.5% sales tax on almost everything.

Yes - we also had a service charge on the sound system at our ceremony and the one at our reception - which didn't have a tech or anyone "servicing" it. I still don't know what qualifies as a service and gets that charge... :confused3
