Pricing Help

I posted this on the Cooking, Crafting and Scrapping Board but I need everyone's opinion -

I have been asked to make a baby blanket for someone - they are willing to pay for same but I need to know what to charge for it. It's a typical baby blanket - with quite a pattern to it - but I love to crochet so I NEVER know what to charge - any ideas would help me immensely.

I have no idea. I so admire anyone who can crochet elaborate patterns, I've never had the patience to learn to do that. I can crochet simple things but not patterns

Why don't you do a google search and see if you can find any crocheted blankets of a similar pattern for sale? That may give you an idea. I don't think you can ever get paid as much as handmade items like that are worth, in terms of your time spent doing the work itself.

I would also maybe check eBay, and see what some hand crocheted, hand knitted blankets are going for.

I am super envious of talented folks like yourself as well.

You too can learn - honestly! I was taught very young and I just love it. I was only taught the basics and taught myself how to read a pattern. I only have boys and sometimes I'm a little saddened that I don't have a little girl to pass the "secret" on to. Oh well I guess I'll just have to make a layette for each of them and pop it into the cedar chest for safekeeping so they'll each have something special from Mom!
