I hope someone will be able to offer me some assistance. I am obsessing too much. I booked 7 nights at the WL between May15 to 22nd. I was given a price of 334.12 per night- total= 2,338.84. I have studied the boards long enough to understand that Disney is not going to volunteer any discounted rates, so I asked. Sure enough there werent any discounts available at that time. But I did get a free upgrade to a courtyard view using my AAA card. Now Disney has released room only discounts for my travel dates. I called today and asked if I could apply that discount to my reservation and was told that I am already getting a AAA discount. Keep in mind that I dont need a courtyard view- I only got it because it was free. Would it make sense to rebook a standard view and try to use the room only discount? Or be happy with what I have (obviosly I am trying to save money).:confused3

I would call back and ask what the difference in the discounts would be. Usually AAA is a % off of the room portion, so the "free" upgrade was probably just the AAA discount so the courtyard view was the same as the view you had originally booked, if that makes sense.

There could have been a couple issues going on during this phone conversation.

One - the CM was mistaken and thought you wanted to apply both the general public code and the AAA discount to the room, which is a no-no. When I already have a room only AAA discount, I usually word my question something like "I have a reservation with the AAA discount, but I wanted to see if there was any availability under XXX code that would help me save some money.". That way, they know that you are simply looking for the better deal.

Two - there may not have been any availability under the general public code for the room type you had already booked. Which would mean that the deal you have now is the best deal you are going to get. They should have told you this, if this were the case, and offered you any other options that might have been available, like moving to a woods view instead of courtyard, but they don't all do that automatically. Sometimes you have to tell them you are willing to change view/location to get the better deal, if in fact you are willing to do so.

I would call and try again.
