Those of you who have purchased through priceline naming your own price, did you wait until it was close to your trip or far away? My sister and I want to plan a weekend get away with our husbands to Baltimore, MD and are looking for our hotel. We are thinking about going in Feb or March.

I begin bidding as soon as I'm 100% sure I'm going. Check out the www.biddingfortravel.com website. It's got lots of good information. From perusing that for a couple years, I have seen people bid 6-9 months in advance and also within weeks or days. Since I just finalized our air transportation for our Feb vacation, this week I tried priceline for the first 2 days and last 2 days of our vacation (DVC in between) I was not successful (at the price I was willing to pay) but since we're not going until Feb, I have lots of time to keep trying. Plus I have made a fully cancellable backup at a comfort inn.

I also start bidding when I'm 100% sure of my travel dates, that way if you don't get what you want you have plenty of time to try again.
