I'm sure some of the priceline experts can help me with this...

I have to go out of town next month (not to Disney, unfortunately) and was thinking about using Priceline to book a hotel. I've never used it before and the question I have is this... is the price you bid the price you pay, or are any taxes extra? I'm just wondering is everything included because I know that some areas have hotel taxes on top of sales taxes. I'd hate to get a nice hotel for a decent price and then have to drop an extra $20 for taxes.

Almost all places have additional hotel taxes on top of sales tax. When you bid on Priceline, the price that you pay is the the price that you bid *plus* all taxes and PL charges.

To learn how to bid on PL, check out www.biddingfortravel.com . I also like www.betterbidding.com for help on using Hotwire. On Hotwire you might be able to figure out which hotel is being offered (esp with the above website). If price is the key, Priceline beats Hotwire just about every time :). Good luck!

another thing I always forget is that a lot of your nicer downtown hotels will charge for parking and that is not included in your bid.

I've already bid on Priceline and am staying at the hotel this weekend. When we bid, there was a page (after you enter your bid price) that showed total cost after taxes/fees. For example, we put in a bid price of $45/night, but after taxes and fees were shown a total cost of $55/night. Will there be additional charges when we get to the hotel? I thought the extra $10/night over the bid price covered everything.

It does..taxes are included in the total amount you are charged when your bid is accepted.

However the hotel can charge a resort fee, parking fee, energy fee etc. when you get to the hotel.

I thought the $10 was just the priceline fee-
I got a hotel on priceline for a bid of $40, total charged $50- I thought I was still going to have to pay taxes, fees... when I checked out. NO?

You pay priceline direct for the room, including taxes and PL fee.

Some hotels charge extra fees such as parking, resort fees, energy etc those you pay direct to the hotel upon check-in.
