Hi,
Can anyone offer advice on obtaining Hotel rooms using Priceline. Have you ended up with a bargain and did everything work out ok ?
Any tips would be welcome.

Mick.

I have used Priceline dozens of times for booking hotel rooms. I have stayed in several British cities aswell as Toronto, Orlando(many hotels), Amsterdam, Barcelona and Paris. I have always without exception been pleased with the hotels. Nine out of ten times I have received the hotel I was hoping for. I have been able to do this by reading the Cleverbidding site which has some invaluable advice. I have used both Priceline.co.uk and Priceline.com. I have tended to get slightly better deals on the US site but the UK site has some bonus money available at the moment so I have been using them lately. I have just been succesful in recent bids for New York, Manchester, Heathrow and Barcelona. I have saved a fortune. Here are the useful links

Good luck

OK, I have a qustion about this - what happens if you want a room that sleeps more than 2 adults?

Hi Mick,

After a longtime debating whether to try Priceline or not. I eventually did it for our trip in December.
I got a couple of rooms staying at the Grosvenor for 4 nights and Wyndham I Drive for 10 nights at fantastic prices.
When I knew which hotels I had been succesful with all I did was email them with my requests and they have both emailed me back to say there should be no problems.
The links Tracey has given are great and you should read them before attempting to try Priceline.
I used www.biddingfortravel.com for all the help I needed.

I can honestly say I have been bitten by the bug and will be using them again.

Hi,
Tried several atempts on Priceline (UK) for 2 rooms in San Diego in May.Their suggested retail price was £125 and I bid upto £80 (reluctantly) but I didn't get any offers. On two occasions despite getting a request number they claimed they had no record of my request! Can't understand how some people are getting similar accomodation to the type I request for as little as $49! Am I doing something wrong or am I bidding too soon? Any help would be appreciated.

Mick.

I got a room in New York recently, I just put in the max I wanted to pay, went for a higer 'star' rating too & they came back with an offer within my price bracket but a lower rating. Paid £52.50 per night for a room, the hotel was a minute walk from Time Sqaure & was 3*+. It was very nice & we were very pleased with the deal. The hotel now has a special offer of $149 per night if you book direct with them, I think I got a bargain! :)

I can see why Mick is frustrated!

If you can't get anywhere with priceline numerous Holiday Inns come in at the £55 to £75 mark for a room that sleeps 4 in San Diego. The USA part of laterooms.com might also come up with something.

Good luck!
