Priceline for rental cars

Has anyone used Priceline to book a rental car? What car companies do they typically use? Can you get a better deal then with all the codes that are out there? I haven't been able to find anything about the car companies they book with, and I don't want to have to go all over to pick up a car. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you specify MCO area, it will either be one of the onsite locations (Avis Alamo, Dollar, Budget) or Hertz, which is offsite but is not very far. We use Priceline for this all the time, and it's almost always either Alamo or Avis (once it was Hertz, but their buses are right there waiting, and they upgraded me to a RAV4 from an ecomony car for free!). I find the lowest coupon rate I can and then bid below that, or else I base my bid on L&M or Thrifty if they are lower.

In Orlando they are all on site except Hertz which has really efficient shuttle.

However, I have never gotten them to take my bids. For example I have a car for a week over XMAS and with the Vacation Club discount on www.mousesavers.com and my DC discount it is coming out to about $20 a day (all fees included). I bid $17 on Priceline and got refused. Be sure you know what the best deal you can get without them before you bid!

My BIL & SIL recently used Priceline and got Avis at MCO. The best they had found prior was with Avis at about $28 per day for a full size with all taxes & fees. With Priceline they got it down to $20 per day, inc. the Priceline fee, for an 8 day rental.
