Priceline Express/Hotwire tips?

I'm sure this has been asked before.

I've planned a sort of last minute solo trip where I'm trying to be as thrifty as possible. Having done a Cabana Bay/All-Star Movies visit in November, I'm not looking to splurge again.

One way I'll try to save money is using Priceline Express or Hotwire for the first time to book my hotel blindly. Any tips or tricks I should take advantage of with this service? I'll be looking to stay around the Universal area, not 192 or around Disney.

https://www.betterbidding.com. A tip I read years ago suggested starting a package booking before finalizing hotel choice. You can compare the package hotel ratings with the blind-booked selections to get an idea what the hotels might be.
