Priceline anyone?????

Does anyone use priceline for either hotels or airfare? If so, what chains or airlines do you usually get?
Also has anyone used priceline for hotels around disneyland? If so how far were you from the park and what chain hotel did u get ?

I've used it for hotels - depending on where I'm going and whether or not I can get reliable info from biddingfortravel to help me bid. Would never use it for air travel. You're likely to end up on a redeye.

I would advise against using it for a hotel near DL though because there are cheap hotels all over the place, some of which you wouldn't want to stay in. Try the Candy Cane Inn. You can get a room there for less than $100 on their website.

I just used Priceline for the first time last week for a hotel in Baltimore. I had a choice of 5 hotels. Of those 5, I would've been thrilled with 4. One of them I didn't want, due to proximity to where I wanted to be. Guess which one accepted my bid? I was not a happy camper initially.

Anyway, I'm over it. I'm saving over $600 from rack rates, which will more than pay for my gas, tolls, food, tickets, etc.

Have used Priceline countless times for hotels. Never for airfare. With hotels, it's the same room at the same hotel but for a much lower price. With airfare, you have no control over the times of the flights, and the number of connections, which is not worth the cost savings to me.

I'd never bid without checking www.biddingfortravel.com first.

This weekend I stayed at the InterContinental in New York City with a $175 rate that I received on Priceline. It was my second time using Priceline; the first time I stayed at Le Meridian in New York. I plan to use Priceline again for New York because Manhattan is so dense that it is easy to pin down the location of the hotel before bidding. I would be less inclined to use Priceline for a city that was more spread out.

That is why it is great for Disney WORLD, it gives you many zones to pick from.

I bid on a hotel in Minneapolis 2 weeks ago. For 32.00 I got a Sheraton 4 points with a king bed. It was fabulous!!

Only done it a few times but have been great motels. 3* or above.

I used it for a Disneyland trip and I booked the highest star rating for the area, and got the Hyatt for $44, and was extremely happy with it. However, it was NOT walking distance, but the shuttle was excellent. We went back and forth on it a couple of times in one day and never waited more than 5-10 minutes. It does stop at a couple of nearby hotels, but it didn't make a huge difference in time.

It depends on what your priority is. Sometimes, I like to stay close, and like someone else said, there are lots of reasonably priced hotels across the street. This time, we didn't care much, and I was curious what I could get on PL. Even with the cost of parking (I think $12), it was still less than what we would've paid at HoJo.

I recently stayed at the 3* Doubletree in Anaheim for $51. My DH is Hilton Honors Diamond and they gave us vouchers for free breakfast (a Diamond perk given to regular paying customes, usually not PL customers). We had a theme park view. Although Disneyland was in the distance we enjoyed the fireworks. The pool was cold, the hot tub warm and the shuttle prompt. It only took 10-15 minutes to get to/from Disneyland. A little more if we picked up people from the convention center. Parking was an extra $9 per day.

ETA: I have also received the Hilton for $40, but that was years ago. I wouldn't expect those kind of prices these days. Bidding For Travel will tell you the current prices .

I have used priceline quite often. I just booked a 2.5* hotel in appleton WI ( going to visit my sister ) for this thursday night yesterday ( monday) i got a bid of $40.00 + tax for the night. My sister just about died LOL when i told her which hotel i got...( A very nice all suite hotel, lowest rate avail was $94 + tax) I have made many great deals on priceline, once to FL in orlando and even in milwaukee for our over night stay before our early flight out.
I do believe you need to inform yourself about priceline as mentioned above, www.biddingfortravel.com will get you up to speed - lots of great tips and info.

I've only used priceline for hotel. This way I was able to get a cheap price for a 5 star resort hotel. Got a great deal! Haven't tried airfare though.

I've used Priceline 3 times for hotels.
Three years ago during Spring Break, I was taking the kids to California and we planned to visit Disneyland. I ended up getting the Hyatt Newporter in Newport Beach for about 25-29.00/night. I can't remember the exact rate I got but when you're paying in the 20's does it really matter. We stayed there for a week and it was fabulous. It was about a 20 minute drive to Disneyland but we planned to have a car anyway since we were doing alot of sightseeing.
For Disneyworld, we were going to arrive very late last summer and I didn't want to pay the BC rate for our first night since we wouldn't get there until 1:30AM. I used Priceline and got a hotel at the airport. Can't remember which hotel but it was a major resort type and the price was 45.00.
Also last year, I went to Minneapolis and got a 4-5 star hotel for 50.00/night. I love using priceline.com for hotels.
