ANyone done this? I am not sure about it and really don't understand. I know that you put in your airports and your travel days. Iknow that you have to accept the flight that they give you (or the airline accepts your bid ). Can you put in ANY amount? I realize that if you are ridiculous (bid 10 bucks or something) then your chance of having that accepted is next to zero, but can you put in a really low price? And if the price is accepted, you must take it right? NO way out of it?
Thanks.
Cathy- who has never done this before.

This is Barb (inkkognito) posting under her hubby's ID to test his new avatar.
I used Priceline for rental cars and hotels a lot. Once your bid is accepted, you MUST take it and your charge card will be charged. There is no way out because you accept the terms before you go ahead with your bid.
You really can put any price that you want. You might see a question saying that your bid is too low and has virtually no chance of being accepted, but you can still proceed. When doing rental cars and hotels, I often get that message and just ignore it, and I've still had my bids accepted. I research them on www.biddingfortravel.com so I know the approximately going rates, and for rental cars, I check on Orbitz and with various discount codes before trying Priceline.
I don't do airfares only because I am not very flexible on my departure/arrival times. But if I was, I would definitely try. I love Priceline for hotels and cars.

THanks Barb (love the hubbies new aviatar by the way:). I am a big chicken when it comes to stuff like this. And have to agree with being firm on departure times.
I might try it sometime in the future, but not this time.

I received an email from Priceline today that they now offer discounted airfares where you know the date and time. I ran some dates, but they didn't seem to be very cheap. It's a free search, though, and no commitment. They also have their new William Shatner commercial on their website...it's hilarious!
Hubby is very proud of that avatar. It's from a Lion King t-shirt we bought in Chicago at the play. He took a digital photo of the shirt and I Photoshopped it into an avatar for him.

PL bought lowestfare.com. All they are doing is using them. You won't find SWA or SWA. AFAIK it's no different than using Expedia or Travelocity.
