Price quoted by CM was less than online price. Why?

When I was booking my March 07 trip I originally booked a value resort. Then I decided to upgrade to a mod. I had looked at prices online and the price the CM quoted me over the phone was a couple hundred less than the price I got online, $1450 vs $1700. I don't think there was anything different about the online package, same options on both. Has anyone else ever experienced there being a difference in price when booking over the phone vs booking online?

I am pricing a trip for early August. I am taking college classes and can't go the end of August for free dining It doesn't look like there will be a code so I'll just have to be thankful for value season pricing. It would be nice if the price I am getting online for a 6 night stay with ddp and 3 day base passes(have two no expiration park hoppers from last trip0, would be less $ if I call CRO. Thanks for any explanation about the price difference.

Sorry I meant to put this as a new thread.

I can't explain this one .. but I bet someone here can.

This happened to me, too, and I just couldn't figure it out. One issue is that on the phone, they tend to include travel insurance, which is about $59 per adult. I haven't figured out how to add the insurance on-line. Even so, it doesn't account for the whole difference, unless you've got a whole lot of adults in your party! :confused3

Oh, I just read your post again...you got a LOWER price on the phone...sorry. Check the room category. The web site tends to automatically assign "preferred" rooms or "pool view" when you might just want standard.

I'd call back and talk to a different CM if I were serious about booking, and ask for a clear explanation.

In my experience the website automatically adds trip insurance and then you must choose to take it off in the check out process.

I'll second the pp, the website defaults to preferred room categories whereas over the phone they probably gave you a standard room rate.

Thanks for replies. Wondering if when I added on a day to the beginning of my reservation I caught the end of value season and got that price.

It could possibly be that. Did you ask if any discounts or codes apply to you? They may have put in a discount or code which would explain a cheaper price.

Also, when you book online I have noticed that park hoppers and water parks and more options are both included in the price quoted unless you deselect them. And when you select continue(to purchace your package), trip insurance is also pre selected for you and is quoted in the final price unless you deselect it.

Maybe the CM did not include these:confused3

The website may be adding a higher cost room (i.e. preferred vs. standard) which can easily be changed and will automatically add on trip insurance, which can be taken off. That right there could account for the price difference.

As far as value season pricing, your check in would need to be August 5th or later for it to be catching that price.
