Price increase for Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties, price now includes beer/wine

My husband and I don't drink alcohol. I am tired of paying higher prices for things such as this, when we aren't drinkers. We would have vastly preferred the after party, but booked the garden viewing since it is cheaper. We are a family of four and it was already too expensive before. Now it's even more ridiculous! But yep, I booked it anyway. (wow, that will stick it to "the man," right, lol!)

Really enjoyed the ooey gooey toffee cake and cheeseburger spring rolls last year.
I totally agree. For those that don't drink or don't drink a decent amount the dining plan and new parties with alcohol included are no worth it. It kills me that ppl. pay the same price for the 10-20 age group, who can't even order alcohol, as those drinking alcohol with every meal... cha ching for Disney.

That MK is basically having forced alcohol parties is pretty disheartening. Telling a 10 year old you have to pay what is basically an alcohol surcharge is kind of ridiculous. Amazing how we've gone from a no alcohol park to one where you're basically forced to pay for it at events . . .

For a family park, I'd would have expected some way to make it an optional add on for those who are too young or don't want to / can't drink.

It *is* optional. You can go to the garden view before party where alcohol is not offered.

See below. Or, you can always go and not drink :confused3
Don't the prices of these parties increase pretty much annually anyways? I doubt the price increase is fully attributed to the adding of alcohol.

If they are going to tout alcohol, the pricing should be broken down into under 21 and over 21 tiers.

Requiring 10 year olds and up to pay the "adult" price is dumb. My 10 year old shouldn't subsidize unlimited alcohol for adults. Even if that adult is me.

I know admission prices are based on the same age groups, but there are no "21 and over" rides.
I love this idea! I'd say even take an extra step and have included and not included alcohol prices for adults. As someone who doesn't drink I was sad to see when the dining plan started touting you could get alcohol drinks when they raised prices. Now this? Seems like the alcohol trend is just starting. What happened to no alcohol in the Magic Kingdom??

You'll still have those who are over 21 but don't drink complaining. They'll never please everyone. And no alcohol in the MK hasn't been a thing for awhile now.

Oh I know that. What started with wine at select restaurants has just grown. Doesn't mean I have to like it. Alcohol and drinking around the world is a main reason I don't like Epcot much. But to each their own.

I have the Garden Viewing party with dessert before the fireworks booked for June. At first the WDW site DID say alcohol was included in all 3 parties, but they have now taken that phrasing off of the "before" party description. I think there was a lot of confusion initially.

That sucks. I don’t want to do the Terrace party because I just know I’d get an obstructed view. Nor do I want to do the After party. And I’ve never thought the MK dessert parties were worth it without alcohol. I was excited to finally try one. Guess I’ll go back to planning an Epcot one then.
Same!

I can get a steak dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse including dessert and it would be less than this dessert party.
But, does it allow me to not fight that mass of humanity that is the fireworks crowd? That's what I'm paying for. The food is secondary.

Bingo! And a glass of wine or beer is a nice bonus.
I just looked at a review and was glad to see my moscato is an included wine. $15 for unlimited alcohol is a bargain by any standard. Just got our reservations for July 3 today! We're not huge eaters. With the dessert buffet, we have a snack for bf, a late lunch and skip dinner entirely. We can easily fill ourselves with the savories they offer. It's not a bad price at all when I look at where we save elsewhere because of it. But in the end, it's the ease of viewing the fireworks that gets us to book it.
