Price Difference in Resort Hotels or Good Neighbor Hotels?

We're taking our daughter to DL for her first trip in May. We had planned on staying at the Carousel Inn, but now that I read about their pool being closed, I'm starting to second guess that decision. I've e-mailed our travel agent to see what we could do. We may just move to another Good Neighbor hotel.

Just out of curiousity...does anyone know an estimated price difference per night for the resort properties versus the good neighbor hotels.

I just want this to be a wonderful trip for my daughter and starting out without a pool is not going to be good.

Well, in a nutshell, the price difference can be quite extreme! You can check the actual prices online at Disneyland.com, just look up "Room Only" rates, but it can be anywhere from $100 - $300 difference PER night (if not more), and that's just for standard rooms. It's definitely much cheaper to stay off-site, especially if you don't have access to AP discounts.

That's what I figured. We'll probably just switch to another Good Neighbor hotel. Thanks for the info though! :)

I mean, it is definitely worth still checking. If the price is right, I would always choose on-site over off-site, but the price is rarely right ;) Sometimes they have good deals though, so don't rule it out entirely, just don't get sticker-shock if there are no deals during the time of your visit.

Okay, I think we've decided to switch hotels, since the Carousel will not have a pool. I just need to decide quickly though.

So I'm debating between PPH or switching to CCI. PPH will be about $300 more for our trip. I'm debating if it's worth it. Can someone give me some perks of staying on property vs. a good neighbor hotel? I've gone back and forth and back and forth and I just need to decide. lol

How long are you planning on staying?
There is the buy 3 get 2 more days for free deal out there and that brings down your cost if you avg out the days.

We are staying four nights. Arriving on Wed and departing on Sun. I wonder if we could make it work for us. That would be great if we could.

Thanks for the info!!

The one major perk of staying onsite is that you have MM every morning its offered as opposed to 1 MM(magic morning) with a park hopper but for us it isnt enough of a perk to offset the extra cash per night I'de much rather stay off site and spend money on meals at Cafe Orleans and more souvies!!!!

We are planning on a 4 day stay in May. The GC averages out to just under $300 with the summer discount without passes.
This will be our 1st trip to DL and we really wanted to stay on property but I don't think I can justify that amount of money for a room.
We have been to DW over 20 times and have stayed in some of the best resorts there and have never paid close to that amount of money.
So now I'm trying to find which Good Neighbor hotel that is the closest & best fit for us.

Let me know what hotel you decide on. I am planning out trip for July.

We ended up choosing Paradise Pier. We got the buy 3, get 2 deal and just won't be using the extra night. Also, originally we only had a three day park hopper, but with the package we got a five day. I hadn't planned on going in to the park on the first day, but we arrive at around noon, so now with the extra passes we'll be able to go in to the park that day too.

It ended up being an extra $250.00 to move to Paradise Pier, but I didn't think that was too bad. I think we'll really enjoy it.

Sounds fantastic !! :cool1:

Have a great trip :banana::banana:

sending some pixie dust your way for lovely weather:wizard:
