& click on the young worker part, it should take you to the prevent-itville site.
warning: some SERIOUSLY graphic stuff on that site (in cartoon form)

Okay, so I thought it was the black-friday lovin' americans were nuts....turn out we canucks are a tad more NUTS.

this campaign "prevent it" is to raise awareness about accidents in the workplace. they are trying to tell people to have proper training and follow prodecures the reduce the risk of serious injury and possible death.

How they do this is;
They have these commercials (that run on TV!!) that show people at work, talking about their lives, and how happy and content they are and then BLAM! workplace accident resulting in DEATH. A HIDEOUS gory death.

There is one where a woman is working in a kitchen talking about how she is engaged to be married soon, and then she picks up a pot full of hot grease and trips and the hot grease LANDS OF HER FACE AND THEY SHOW YOU HER SCALDED BURNT FREDDY KRUGER-LOOKING FACE!!!

Those commercials honestly make me sick, the images are HAUNTING.
I have to flip the channel when they come on.

The commercials that run on TV are with live actors, not cartoons like the website though. If you search prevent-it on youtube you can probably find some of the live-action videos (that are extremely distrubing for the most part)

Anyways, I was just wodnering what you guys thought about this type of advertising tactic. Do you think it's good, does it work, is it appropriate?

Ewww.
I only saw one tiny thing and I had to leave the site.
I don't think they should be showing that on t.v.

It sounds disturbing.
I'm going to look at it after I post.

Most workplaces should be getting their employees trained with WHMIS (I've done the course twice in tech, and have studied it in science numerous times). Usually it's law, but I'm sure there's some companies out there working with hazardous materials that aren't doing it.

Anyhoo, I just looked at the site. It's not so bad, as it's in cartoon form.. and I guess it could be worth looking at in detail.

I've seen the 'there are no accidents' commercial a thousand times, the real life one.

OMG you mean the one where the guy fell off the ladder and his leg is backwards?

those are ODD AND DISTURBING ><

I've never seen any of those commercials, and I don't think there are any huge programs on the same topic as that in America.

And while I don't think that it should be aired at a time when children might accidentally stumble upon it, if it's a major issue, maybe actually seeing it would push people to get the proper training needed.

It sounds a little over the top though.

Okay, so I just searched prevent it on YouTube. I clicked on the kitched accident one. And thanks you your warning I stoped it right when she slipped on the puddle.

lol GOOD IDEA! her freddy kruger-looking face will HAUNT YOUR DREAMS.
yeah hilary these are the same as the 'there are no accident' commericals.
& the guy that fell off the ladder is part of it too.

I'm going to look at that commercial in a few minutes.
I used to like those stupid.ca ones, that were to prevent smoking and drugs. Though, they could give people bad ideas.

Wow those were gross!
but good for letting ppl know
thanks for sharing!:thumbsup2

AHHHHHH!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I should've listened...but nnoooooo!
I just HAD to watch the whole commercial.
eeeeeek.

I think I might have nightmares!!!

Anyway, those should NOT be shown on tv.

I checked them out.
Yes, they were kind of scary.. but I didn't find them that disturbing.

eww, I just seached it and there was one at a store and the lady fell into a glass case and ewww.

Oh my. I just saw the one on that website with the guy who's hand got chopped off in a machine! Wow. I think if I kept watching that, I would have freaked out. I'm usually okay with those real life medial things on TV, and you see blood and whatnot, but for some reason cartoon characters make it creepier. Although that burnt lady you're describing doesn't sound pretty either way...so yeah, I really don't think they should show these on TV. Ew :sad2:

They showed the kitchen one on Best Week Ever on vh1. I couldn't help but look, while eating my breakfast. Eww, why would they show that on tv??!

Ooooh.
So that's what it is.
I just saw the kitchen one on best week ever and I was wondering where that was from.
