Does anyone know if you can get the pretzel bread from Le Cellier anywhere else? I don't want to eat at Le Cellier again, but I'm dying for some of that pretzel bread. Mmmmm.

I make them at home along with cheddar cheese soup...my boys (DH and DS (10)) can't get enough! :lovestruc If you'd like the recipe, let me know as it is a little long to post here.

You can get them at Biergarten in Germany too.

I also found them at our local Wegman's :cool1: :thumbsup2

Our bakery in our grocery store (Pick n'Save is the store name) has them. Check it out! The bakery items are a brand called Le Brea.

Good luck!

We first ran into pretzel bread while in Germany in 2007 and my husband fell in LOVE with it. To this day I haven't had it yet because he gobbles it up every chance he gets!

I'd love the recipe!!! TIA :worship:

I would also like to know the recipe. My kids loved it and I want to make it for them.

We picked up a cookbook in WDW last week with the cheese soup recipe, but none that we looked at had the pretzel breadsticks, so if you'd be willing to share the recipe, we'd REALLY appreciate it! None of the chains listed in the string are in Colorado, so we need the recipe. We had probably one of the best dinners ever in the World at Le Cellier. Of course, the subsequent meals on the cruise ship were equally as good. What a great trip!

We'd love the recipe as well! My DD's list that pretzel bread as one of the reasons they can't wait to go back!

With all these requests, you may as well post up the recipe in this thread! If there's enough interest, it saves you having to fill up your PM box!

Oh yeah - I don't eat at Le Cellier, but I love to bake and love pretzel bread - I'd like it, too. Post away!!!!

Original Poster - can you update the thread header when she posts it?

FYI - Weinerschnitzel chain fast food places have pretzel buns as an option for your hotdogs....;)

If you have a Max & Erma's restaurant near you, they have a pretzel breadstick appetizer that's YUMMY. That's how we get our "fix" between WDW trips.

Here you go all! Enjoy!!! We make them into sticks instead and they turn out just fine...

Homemade Soft Pretzels

Recipe courtesy Alton Brown, 2007

1 1/2 cups warm (110 to 115 degrees F) water
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 package active dry yeast
22 ounces all-purpose flour, approximately 4 1/2 cups
2 ounces unsalted butter, melted
Vegetable oil, for pan
10 cups water
2/3 cup baking soda
1 large egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon water
Pretzel salt

Combine the water, sugar and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and sprinkle the yeast on top. Allow to sit for 5 minutes or until the mixture begins to foam. Add the flour and butter and, using the dough hook attachment, mix on low speed until well combined. Change to medium speed and knead until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the side of the bowl, approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the dough from the bowl, clean the bowl and then oil it well with vegetable oil. Return the dough to the bowl, cover with plastic wrap and sit in a warm place for approximately 50 to 55 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Line 2 half-sheet pans with parchment paper and lightly brush with the vegetable oil. Set aside.

Bring the 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a rolling boil in an 8-quart saucepan or roasting pan.

In the meantime, turn the dough out onto a slightly oiled work surface and divide into 8 equal pieces. Roll out each piece of dough into a 24-inch rope. Make a U-shape with the rope, holding the ends of the rope, cross them over each other and press onto the bottom of the U in order to form the shape of a pretzel. Place onto the parchment-lined half sheet pan.

Place the pretzels into the boiling water, 1 by 1, for 30 seconds. Remove them from the water using a large flat spatula. Return to the half sheet pan, brush the top of each pretzel with the beaten egg yolk and water mixture and sprinkle with the pretzel salt. Bake until dark golden brown in color, approximately 12 to 14 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Aahhhh. Figures it would be Alton Brown. He's a cooking God...

Not fond of his new hair this year, but still, a God....

I actually have this recipe! :thumbsup2

It's terrific...I don't recall where I got it from; another Disser may have pointed me in the right direction. I was nervous the first time I made them and had DH help me...once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy...Good Luck!

Love your name YellowMickeyPonchos!
