I love pressed pennies & hope to collect many on our trip in April.

Just wondering - do the pressed penny machines at Disneyland take Canadian quarters & pennies ok, or do I need to make sure I have American?

I know many vending machines south of the border reject Canadian coins, so I want to be prepared.

Thanks!

I'm glad you asked this, sorry nobody has answered you. I was wanting to know the same...

I have put Canadian coins in the machines to be pressed, but the coins you use to operate the machine need to be American.

Yup... this! Quarters need to be American.

Also noticed that the American Pennies seemed to be softer, as they flattened much nicer than the ones we did with Canadian ones.

I think I remember reading that American pennies and Canadian pennies have different materials, so they stamp differently. I found both worked well and made me very happy. :)

I saw somewhere (I tried to find it again but couldn't) that Canadian pennies made after 2000 are ok, any before that we're copper plated steel.
Any pennies from 2000 on should press as well as American pennies...we've been shining ours up with Oxiclean in preparation for our trip!
