Pressed Pennies?

When we visit the parks here my kids and I love to get pressed pennies. I print out the long list off the internet and we are off running. These are small and the designs change often enough that it never gets boring.

I can't find a list for any pressed penny (or euro) machines at DLP except for the Rain Forest Cafe. I did see someone mention something about a picture coin machine? Does anyone know anything about this?

I would like a small souvineers that I can only get there but I don't want to have to purchase additional luggage to bring them home. It would be nice if it wasn't breakable because I'm accident prone.

That is seriously spooky because I was about to re-ask the same question about pressed pennies almost as you typed. I vaguely remember seeing a pressed penny machine in one of the shops on Main St, and one underneath the Main St railroad steps.... but this was on our last trip over three years ago!!! I asked about these when I first discovered this board over Xmas and it seems that there aren't many others (if any) about. A shame because we collected loads at WDW.

I didn't even know they did them at DLP.
We have some of the coins/medals from the machines, I can't think what they're called - Monnaie something ?

They don't do pressed pennies at DLP. There was a big discussion about it a few months ago and it turned out people got confused with pressed pennies and souvenir coins. I made it my aim to find out for sure while we were there in January and there are definitely no pressed coin machines like in WDW. There are however souvenir coin machines (in front of the big Disney Store in the village, under the station, in theh arcades etc). They are 2 euros if I remember rightly, and have various designs, but it's just a big gold coin with year and picture on, not a pressed coin. HTH

Thanks Cookie334. Is there a list I could print out before I get there or do they have them at the Guest Services in the parks? This would be helpful.

As far as I'm aware there are no lists, but there aren't many. There are 4 or 5 maybe in the village all lined up together. The only other places I've seen them are the train station and the arcades, but someone mentioned there being one in one of the shops. Sorry I can't be any more help. They weren't as exciting as the pressed pennies for us and so we just got one

They had the whole range of coins in the shop where you rent the pushchairs from when we went in January. They are on the counter in front of the till.

Thanks for the info. Do they sell Kinder eggs there? My husband brought a couple of these yummy treats home from one of his business trips. We can't get these here. I remembered these last night.

I haven't seen Kinder Eggs but they sell the Little Kinder Bars, Packs of four

We always buy the souviner coins whenever we go, if I remember rightly they used to do just 2 one for the studios and one for the park,when we were there during half term there now seems to be loads of them. They cost 2 Euros each and the ones we got are Walt Disney Studios, Main Street and Pirates of the caribbean and also one with the year on. They also did them for each of the different lands. So with 2 sons it became a costly hobby!

The main machines that I remember are situated in the Liberty arcade, by the lockers in the main park, and outside the Disney store in the village.

I've also seen them in a tub by the till at The Emporium.

The euro is about 2 to 1. The machines take 2 euros per coin. I need 4 coins per design. (One for each of my 3 kids and one for me. Husband will want something else.)

I need more money! There are only a few designs, right?!

So far I've collected 5, I try to buy one each visit but I am not sure how many different designs there actually are at any time.

DLRP ~ Mickey in front of the Castle dated 2005

Frontierland ~ cowboy Mickey in front of BTM dated 2006

15 Magical Years ~ Mickey in front of Castle (but different design to top coin) dated 2008. I tried to buy this in 2007 but they were out of stock, luckily I found one in 2008.

Pirates of the Caribbean ~ POTC logo dated 2008

2008 ~ design has 2008 with Goofy, Pluto, Donald and Mickey intertwined and it's dated ..... yes, you guessed correctly, 2008!!


I tried to photograph them but they are too shiny to come out clearly with artificial light. I will see if they will photograph better tomorrow in daylight.
