I haven't been to DL for Presidents weekend since 2002 and honestly can't recall how busy it was. All I remember was that it rained so the crowds thinned (gotta love the rain!). I am expecting crowds as it is a holiday weekend, but do they regulary get so bad that the gates are closed?

Its not so bad gates are closed but it does get busy. I remember large crowds, but I don't remember it being horrible back in Feb. Of course on Sunday DH and I spent the day trading off who stayed with DS in the hotel room since he wasn't feeling well.

I went during Presidents' week this year and it was extremely crowded, especially the Saturday before the holiday. I don't believe they closed the park for capacity, but they did have those electric road type signs out warning people that it would be extremely crowded. Space would run out of FastPasses very early in the day the whole week. Standby times were easily 1 hour+. Heck, even the FastPass line for Indy seemed like at least 30 minutes! Now, of course, this was before I found the DIS and I knew all the hints and tricks that I'm going to try out this January:cool1:

If you can pick another time in Feb. to go, I would. What I don't like about this time is you can pretty much bet on at least one major ride closure (this year it was Splash) and although they have longer hours during the week, they didn't have nighttime entertainment except for fireworks, which were canceled due to weather a couple of times. Tom Sawyer Island was also down, along with Fantasmic! I wish they would have added the Electrical Parade to make up for it, but I guess it's not worth it for just a week?!

Anyway, we still had a great time of course, but if you're going to have major ride closures and less entertainment options, I would at least want low crowds too.

Here in LA they are closing the schools for that week and calling it Ski week. So the airlines have caiught on to it and so has everyone else.. So I would say that yes it will be busy..

To add to this, 2008 is the first year (to my knowledge) that disney moved that week out of the value season pricing into regular pricing.

I think I have a different idea of crowds than most. Twice in the past couple days what I thought were crowded, but not bad two people said were horrible.
